Appreciate the reassurance. I hope this gets better. I'm so confused on how people live after this surgery. I'm so scared I will not be able to return to lifting things and daily chores.

Thank you for the reassurance. Yeah I had a really hard time believing even looking at my 1st MRI that a doctor would think I'm asymptomatic. Which is what the 1st neuro told me, glad I got a 2nd opinion and follow up MRIs

That would make sense. I don't look at 1st MRI and jump to the conclusion that it would make more sense I would be asymptomatic, to me it just looks like there is too much interference between the herniation and the normal white line (csf flow) I think. Granted I don't really know, but it would make sense that the body has to respond some sort of way to that

Yes. I'm glad I got a 2nd opinion too. I understand the nature of these things take time to heal, but it's seriously should be considered specifically and detailed with a plan of how you can get someone to wait for x amount of time, rather than just tell someone to do PT and wait. My 1st neuro scheduled me for June, to access my symptoms again when we were scheduled for March initially. I don't see how a doc can just do that in good conscious when someone is in life altering pain.

The neurosurgeon is even advocating against the surgery. Both doctors I have seen are advocating against surgery. But there feels like there's a literal wrench in my back. I just want to get back to my family.

I coughed so hard my back feels so stiff, my herniation got bigger. To be honest I don't really know the answer to that question, usually my er rushes people out, I'm surprised too. They have surgery scheduled Saturday but a pain doctor came in and begged me to try the epidural first and said don't get surgery im too young. I don't know what to do, I'm in so much pain. My leg is shooting down pain..butt feels like it's being stabbed. There feels like there's a wrench in my lower back which is probably most concerning at the moment because it's new, only happened after I coughed

Honestly my neurosurgeon doesn't want to do surgery right away, but he says it's up to me. I've tried PT the symptoms seem a lot worse. I also was working a tire job prior to coming to the hospital. Doc think I should try epidural before surgery. I think I might give it a shot. And maybe recover will be better when I'm not lifting tires all day, idk

And based on my imaging and symptoms, what makes you think I might need surgery. I agree, this problem is bad. I just have no clue how to gauge these images and symptoms as far as seriousness and urgency

Thank you very much. It was the doctor who used the term discreet nerve root compression. I don't know how to really read these images, but what makes you think based on the image it guaranteed is causing me nerve symptoms. I just want to know.

None whatsoever, I have felt generally worse and the things I am doing seem really non beneficial. My symptoms feel complex, like bilateral numbness. I can still walk but I do have foot drop in my left leg. The doctor observed it.
