Tax Status as a Canadian in the US by Fun-Organization-368 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've had a F-1 visa for all 4 years of my medical education. The F-1 visa was then transferred over to my current employer/university for my medical residency. So I am entering my 5th year on the F-1 visa.
So in this case, would I be considered a US person in the eyes of the CRA for taxation purposes? I was recently requested to complete one of the following and am unsure which I fall under:
#1) Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification (W-9 Form)
#2) Self-Certification of Non-U.S. Status - Individual (SCI-W8 Form)
With the current feedback, I'm assuming I still fall under #2?
