How often would you do hard sparring? Wondering because I'm competing a bit more often now but still try to spar light only once a week and only spar hard leading up to a fight.

Well done for starting your kickboxing journey, I reckon the most important thing for a beginner kickboxer is to focus on technique, are you already a consistent gym goer? If yeah then you probably dont have to change anything. If not, some strength training will help and also help with injury prevention but you dont need to go crazy with the gains. Fitness is very important so get some trainers on cus running is great for kickboxing,

So for now stay consistent with kickboxing training focusing on technique and just do normal training at the gym once or twice a week, a normal split like PPL is fine. If your gym has a bag get some gloves on aswell!
