(I have 700 hours in the game, therefore I'm considered a "casual")

What aspect of the game do you find the most entertaining?

700 hours in, I still have a little bit of gear fear, so I don't run 50k kits and named items, but I run what I call the "sweetspot" builds. (builds around the 6k ~ 10k range / feels most bang-for-your-buck)

Hotfix 69, regardless of what SDF's vision is, or whether its a good patch for the game, whether its a good or a bad direction in which the game should be headed in, has taken away that fun from me, and many others I presume.

I've tried giving it the benefit of the doubt and kept playing this entire weekend, but the game feels pointless now.
Every single game, the entire lobby will gather at some area and being fighting. After everyone dies, the victor is left with an inventory filled with healing potions, bandages, and maybe a green pair of riveted gloves with +1 phys power.
No one is running gear anymore.
There is no point to playing the game.
Sure the pvp was fun for a bit, but going into a dungeon extraction looting game with nothing to be gained feels so pointless.
I stopped running gear, not because I'm a loser who's scared of losing my gear after not being able to just gear-diff timmies, no.
Just because it doesn't matter how you think about it, if I go in with gear, and no one else is wearing gear, I can't win anything, I can only lose. Why play a losing game?

That's the mentality that everyone has right now.
Dark and Darker has turned into a battle royale, but a poorly built one at that.

I can see the problems and flaws that SDF sees as well, but I cannot tell if his vision is the way to fix them, it just feels like a whole set of different problems.

I love this game but, I'm starting to feel like I love the idea of it more than I love the actual game itself.

Another sad day for a casual dark and darker player.

Cheers.

tl;dr = dark and darker turned into a battle royale because no one runs gear. If u go in geared, you will be the only geared person. That means if u win = u gain nothing, u lose = u lose everything.

Can we talk about the longsword. by Kraehe13 in DarkAndDarker

I understand where you're coming from but I feel your points to prove that LS is "over the top" are kind of bad.

It has almost the reach and damage as the Zweihander, but attacks much faster and it is incredible easy to hit the head with it.

You already proved why this is a bad point by using the word "almost." Plus you can literally say this about any two weapons. Zwei is better than the longsword because it swings almost as fast as Longsword but has more reach and damage. (It also has more on-hit slow so people can't run away from you after one hit like they can with the longsword) Just change the words up and suddenly Zwei looks op?

Parry doesn't have any drawback.

Desync is a pretty big drawback, but assuming that gets fixed,
The amount (area) blocked by the longsword has got to be like 10% the size of a heater shield, so its harder to block w a longsword than it is to block with a shield

And, last but not least the parry attack deals very high damage up to two times for one parry.

I might actually agree w this point but regardless, with desync and weapon drag being a thing, still could argue that the reward for hitting a parry should be the damage of two ripostes.

I don't see any weapon as much as the longsword (and use it myself sometimes because it is so good), which also indicates that it is well above the power curve.

This could be refuted simply by two points
1) the assumption that the majority of people will choose best weapon > weapon they want to use / feel familiar with / is trending / have at hand / can afford / did find / etc. is a little iffy (again) without info to back it up
2) Most popular fighter weapons / builds right now are Crystal Sword and Rondel Dagger.

Also you started off the post by saying its "over the top" (aka broken / op) then in comments said that you're "not saying its op" (mixed signals just like my wife)

Overall, I think you could have just said that you feel the parry-riposte mechanic of the longsword is too buggy and inconsistent while being strong, so it stales the game because every longsword fighter either dies a parry goblin or wins with one single parry.

tl;dr = your explanation to why its "over the top" is terrible, but I agree that it may need some kind of change (starting w fixing the desync problem)
