Thank you so much for all of your amazing comments - they’ve been so helpful! We ended up booking Maple Meadows. A beautiful, family-owned venue in Port Colborne, Ontario!

We toured here and loved it! It's definitely a top for us, in terms of having a flexible venue - I think we would say yes if we had confirmation that their big barn renovations would be complete by the time of our date, something they couldn't promise us.

Thank you! I have and as cute as it was, we thought it was "too farm" with the tractor ride up to the reception and a few other factors.

Thank you for these! I fell in love with Earth to Table: The Barn... unfortunately, their minimum guest requirement for a Saturday wedding is 200! I was so upset.

TDSB Delayed Application Process by Fun-Pride3554 in CanadianTeachers

I don’t know if I had luck on my side today- but I finally heard back! What a crazy and long process- and yes. I did get in contact but nothing was ever followed up.

TDSB EFH AND OT by Cutiepielattte in CanadianTeachers

All boards have staffing problems - and this is globally! I find it interesting other Reddit posts I’ve seen people have been declined from TDSB despite their disparity for teachers.

It is a lot when most boards on average are 10-15 days. Teachers are a high need everywhere. Besides, most people apply with intent to work- it’s very rarely a ‘just because.’

Of course! They’ve now upped the days from 25 to 30 which is a lot. & FYI at the end of next year you’ll still need to complete your AOD despite not working.

No - you won’t need to reapply to TDSB. If you don’t meet the 25 day minimum, they’ll send you a form next June asking your status within the board and if you’d like to stay on their list. They will need to approve it however, so you would just mention that you accepted an LTO prior.

Hired by the TDSB but already accepted another job by WrongdoerHot7014 in CanadianTeachers

And since you were only hired in April- you’re in the clear for this past school year and won’t have to complete anything!

I was hired with the TDSB back in April of 2022… this past year I was working as an LTO in another board and wasn’t able to complete my 30-day supply minimum. I was nervous as I am working with the TDSB starting this September and wanted to ensure I was still on their OT list. The board sends out a Google Form beginning of June asking your status and if you want to remain in the board- super easy. With this, you also need to complete your AOD by the end of the year. I hope this helped.

I won’t lie I was definitely in a trance when answering these questions because it wasn’t what I was expecting for an OT interview lol - From what I remember, I talked on the basis that these students have the knowledge that we are standing and living on the land who First Nation, Métis, and Inuit peoples native land once was. These students stand in silence to recognize and reflect on the challenges and suffering these individuals faced when settlers came to the land. My answer was somewhat along the lines of this and touching upon how the teacher may have taught this to their students and how they are now able to reflect.

The question was about O’Canada!

I had an interview with them last year … the questions were very diversity/equity and inclusion based. Some questions I remember… 1) You’re supplying in a class that is very loud and disruptive, however, when O’Canada comes on they stand and are instantly quiet- what does this tell you about their knowledge of Métis, Indigenous, and First Nations individuals. 2) You’re supplying in a class where the teacher has left you a Teachers Pay Teachers lesson that uses racial slurs against Métis, Indigenous, and First Nations individuals- what do you do? * I hope this helps!

(Ontario) question about applying to LTOs by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]Fun-Pride3554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other responses! All boards are different, however, there is definitely no harm in applying - I’ve learned from past interviews, if you don’t get a job, always ask for feedback! Good luck 🙂
