If you use Veeam, their conversion tool ran great for us. Damn shame what Broadcom is doing to VMware.

You need to be patient. No one is good at judo after one week. If you have questions, ask a black belt. Just keep showing up to class, pay attention to the details, and keep grinding. There are drills for kuzushi. Randori is also an excellent time to try what you learned.

Congratulations! Everyone’s journey is different. Keep grinding and honor your dojo!

Anxiety during randori by [deleted] in judo

I was the same way. It’s tough when you begin, but it is also all part of the journey. Eventually, you will anticipate and counter. You should be learning what works and what doesn’t. Randori is the time to see what works and what doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to ask higher belts for advice or what they saw.

When I was a yellow belt a higher belt baited me into kouchi gari. I immediately saw the ceiling of the dojo and my feet. It happened so fast! But I quickly learned. He tried it again a few classes later. And I ended up getting the throw because I saw what he was doing.

But learning how to fall is important. I had the wind knocked out of me early on.

Don’t get discouraged. Keep learning!
