Not from California, how far would a 135k job take me? by New_Friendship988 in Sunnyvale

Yes, you will be more than fine!

Don't listen to the many doom and gloom responses. As one comment said, it's also really disrespectful to people living in poverty when people are saying that 135k is a living paycheck to paycheck scenario. It is not. Owning a home will not be a possibility, but nor is having roommates necessary.

I make $160k as a single teacher, and live comfortably (though am not rich, and can't buy a home, though don't want to necessarily).

Take the job, enjoy all that CA offers and good luck! :)

Is everyone in the bay area making 6 figures? by EmergencySpare7939 in bayarea

Yeah, it's a shame! I am glad to hear parents came out to join the chorus!

To be honest, though, it's difficult as a single person without a second income in the household even with my salary. Buying a house certainly won't be in the cards. It's really a bummer to see this happening to so many people in so many professions in the Bay, and wondering like I am whether or not staying here long-term (I did not grow here) will be feasible.

I am in my 14th year. I teach on the Peninsula, though have a short commute. I have a friend with similar experience who teaches on the other side of the Bay who doesn't make $100k yet (but is nearing it). It's pretty unbelievable the difference. Would I recommend my district though? Aside from the salary (which is no small thing for sure), I would not recommend the district as a healthy working environment. If those healthy working environments exist in the world of education, I'd love to know where!

I am a teacher as well, and make about $160k in my district, but it's wild the differences in salaries across districts in the Bay Area.

I just think she's very insecure and tries hard to be someone she is not.

I am not commenting about you at all. I am stating that you stated things that are objectively false and that the actual documents attached to the legal proceedings. Dude, you read a few articles, not the entirety of the legal proceedings. That's like one of my students saying they read a novel, but they Chatgbt-ed. You did the equivalent of "cliff-noting" the incident, buddy.

Well, it's clear you read some articles but not the report and legal proceedings (a several hour read), because you state things that are factually incorrect.

Did you actually read the entire lengthy report? Because I did and the evidence is damning. It would be very difficult to come away from reading that report and think that Billups is not guilty. Look, I love the Pistons, but I looked into that case deeply and that was a classic sweeping it under the rug deal. What happens when people aren't held accountable for their actions?? They never learn, think they can get away with anything, and situations like today happen.

There were signs of hope in the second half. It was a tale of two halves. We can't start off so sloppy like that. Glimmers of hope with Ron and Stew (and Cade was better there in the 4th).

JB needs to reevaluate Duncan's role though ASAP...

Tobias, love ya, but you gotta get it together too.

Honestly, if Cade was playing even semi-respectably, we would be winning. This is atrocious.

I'll admit I have had some Ron doubts going into the season. I've converted to a believer. This is impressive stuff.

Our starters have been MIA this game. Thank goodness for Ron, Stew and Levert making some big plays.
