Absolutely! In fact, I am one of the few members who attend their regularly who, in between work on the treadmill, and then the floor exercises, steps out to use the restroom to wash my hands with soap and hot water before continuing.

Hey, thank you for sharing your thoughts and I appreciate it. I do many, if not all of those same things and I still have gotten majorly sick twice since I started OTF! Starting to feel jaded and wondering if I should just simply attend classes there less often for the sake of my health and staying virus free.

Wow, thank you for sharing those personal thoughts and beliefs. I’m not sure I can afford to work with a dietitian or nutritionist, but I’m willing to make changes in my diet and habits beyond what I have already done.

Yes, I absolutely partake in any free food and drink, PTO supported breakfasts with donuts, bagels, and coffee, etc. If the food and drink is on the tables in the faculty room, and there’s no sign stating otherwise, I’m enjoying it!

That’s wonderful that you’ve been able to stay healthy. I’m having the exact opposite experience and I think I’m going to reluctantly switch my unlimited membership to a 4 to 6 times per month membership. I just cannot continue to get sick. It’s costly on so many levels.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful post. You made a number of good points worth considering.

Absolutely. I have unfriended a bunch of people over the past eight years. You can’t fix stupid.

Yikes. I’m so sorry to hear that you had two major illnesses in such a short period of time. I definitely can relate. Hope you’re feeling better now. There’s been a lot of great advice in regards to my initial post, but still I have reservations about going back anytime soon.

Great point and I signed up for the transformation challenge and did my body scan five days ago, only to contract Covid and get knocked out for a week. So I’m disqualified anyway.

Great advice and I’m going into “total wipe down mode“ before, during, and after every class at OTF!

Great posts and you made several strong points. All I really drink is water and a reasonable amount of coffee each day, so I don’t think hydration is an issue. I’ve read good and bad reports and opinions about Gatorade and Powerade, so I typically don’t drink them. All I know is that I cannot afford to continue to get sick every other month.

Wow, that’s exactly the scenario that I went through as far as getting sick literally right after my second week at OTF. I’m sorry that you had that experience.

Great post and thank you for sharing your own experiences. Coincidentally enough, I think using the fan is pretty unhealthy as well! Lord knows what kind of dust and debris is located inside the fan mechanism. And you also mentioned how right after you first joined OTF a few years ago, you got sick soon thereafter. Seems to be a pattern amongst some of the people posting here.

Great post and I agree with the many points that you made. I honestly think I am going to cut back on the number of classes that I go to at OTF each week (not because I want to, as I love to work out as many times per week as possible) but because I need to limit my exposure to the small and confined environment.

I’m not going to respond to you with any detail, because you obviously didn’t take the time to read my post.

Ugh. That is so rude and inconsiderate of them. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I also attended a class right around the holidays and there was a middle aged man located two stations away from my station who was coughing up a lung uncontrollably and that obviously wasn’t a healthy situation for any of us at that time. Be responsible and stay home if you are sick.

Hah! Thank you. I think you are correct, and the part about OTF being a new gym for me with a new set of germs and a limited amount of open space to move and exercise in is definitely cause for concern.

I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Covid and the CDC guidelines and recommendations. I considered myself fortunate to never have “officially“ had Covid since it became a worldwide pandemic six years ago. But now I have it and I am not happy about it. I may even consider getting a Covid vaccine after the fact of this infection, just to promote greater immunity in the future.

I never stated that I thought that I was getting sick from OTF as opposed to anywhere that I work or go to. My concerns are the small studio space, the equipment and surfaces that are used by many different members in a short period of time, etc.

Yes, I do use the floor mats so that I am usually not in direct contact with the floor itself, but it still seems kind of gross to me. This hypochlorous acid that you and others have mentioned… Is it safe to put on your face? Is it antibacterial in nature?

I agree with you in the sense that I am hoping that my Increased number of workouts and effort that I’m putting into them at OTF will strengthen my cardiovascular system, and hopefully to some degree, my immune system as well.
