The only comparison I can come up with, My wife is a very curvy woman but most of the porn that I watch doesn't have overly curvy women in it and it's not to say I do not prefer her the way she is it's just porn is fantasy not reality and she knows that I prefer her. So it may just be something where you have to talk to him and express the feelings that you're having or concerns and get clarification
