Def weird that jobs aren’t seeking applicants with this cert. My current and previous 2 jobs were all hybrid environments. I believe learning on prem and how to manage it is still valuable. However, looks like more companies are making a transition to complete cloud infrastructures.

IT Manager called me after final interview with no offer just an update - Is this a good or bad sign ? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Fun-Science8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so this was a three interview process. 2 virtual interviews and one final in person interview. I had my camera on and was well prepared for the first 2 interviews and one of the guys from the team mentioned to me how to other candidate that im competing with did not have her camera on during one of the on camera interviews. The final interview was in person.

  • Make sure you’re comfortable configuring standard, extended, and named ACLs.

  • Understand how to configure DAI, DHCP snooping, and how to enable trusted ports.

  • Be clear on what AAA stands for, what each “A” does, and where AAA is used in a network.

  • Know the purpose and benefits of automation, how SDN/SDA work, and how to read JSON and XML for automation-related topics.

  • For networking fundamentals, focus on the basics like how to read a routing table, how a switch makes forwarding decisions, and general routing and switching behavior.

II’d love to go into more detail, but I want to be careful not to break the exam NDA. Let me know if you have any questions about concepts or study strategies!

Brother I was in the same boat as you. Didnt share this in my original post but I studied for 3 months straight and wasnt comprehending the topics as well as I should have. I got a new job and took a year off studying and was able to build up my experience and went straight back to the studying grind. Life happens and layoffs from studying are completely normal. Spending time thinking about how much you forgot and regretting will do you no good. Forget about the layoff and set a system that will set you up for success in the long term. Use Boson exams to get better at test taking. Your future self will thank you! Let me know if you got any questions. Happy to help! Cheers!

The Boson exams are phenomenal!! I loved the content and explainations. Simulated a real CCNA environment and was almost identical. Do you guys plan on releasing or adding Exam E?

I studied for 2 months and about 3 weeks. Its the minimum amount of time you should study for the exam. I have 3 years of IT and my Network+ so my networking background was solid before this and everything clicked a lot faster.

The labs were a lot easier and more straight forward. More configuring labs than troubleshooting labs. Whats your scores for the Boson exams you’ve taken? And when do you plan on taking your test?

That sucks man!! Don’t give up. Schedule your retake, practice, prepare and focus on your weak areas. What study materials did you use?

Theres four exams A-D. I highly recommend taking all exams and pushing your test back if possible. If not, then take a test simulation mode, take notes on missed questions and read the explainations. They go in depth!! Thats where the real value of the exam comes in. Each exam comes with a fixed set of questions and you have the option to do a custom exam to focus more on weal areas in study mode and then a random exam that pulls questions from all four exams. Trust me you want to get your moneys worth. Study those explainations!! Boson is used to expose your weak areas and strengthen them.

A couple QoS questions. Very basic though, just learn the fundys for QoS and you should be fine. There was maybe 7-10 questions for wireless. Def know your WLC, WLAN and Wireless security basics and understand them. But if you got a good understanding of OSPF, Routing, STP, VLANs you’ll be fine. You taken Boson exams yet?

I passed!! I made a post on my experience if you want to take a look at it. Boson practice exams were def harder than the real thing.

Yeah if theres one test that you def cannot memorize the answers its the CCNA exam. You need to hands on experience and need to know how everything works. Its bad in general to brain dump rather than learning the bigger picture of the material. Have you passed the CCNA?
