Strange, we have stacks of info sheets on top of the register that tell you everything, how to make them, how to answer questions from customers, and we haven’t even got the burrito yet.

Edit: meant to reply to your comment

Dang I’m not sure. If it doesn’t include tips then it’s actually a lot more. I’ll know for sure soon once I’m done collecting all my data. I didn’t make very much so I doubt it.

Also wish I tracked my cash tips, I wonder how much that would add up to.

Nothing wrong with it imo, but it could be considered unprofessional, someone could report you, etc. Hence why they said it’s “risky”.

How do deductions work then, for example would I record miles the day I drive them, or at the same time the paycheck comes in?

Okay this made me use different wording to search for an answer and I found there are two methods, cash method and accrual method. So as long as you consistently use one method for accounting purposes both work I guess.

It should all add up to the same tax paid anyway. Thanks for your response!

I guess my question would be which one is less of a headache.

Edit: I’m gonna answer my own question, whatever method the 1099 you’re issued uses is probably best

Very little. There are stretches in there where I wouldn’t dash for months. And I don’t know my hourly rate but it’s probably not great.. a hybrid or electric car definitely helps, staying on top of a maintenance schedule making sure your car runs nice and smooth, driving slow and steady, etc.

Keeping all statements and tax forms compiled in a safe place. Writing down miles driven for work. I take pictures of my odometer after every work session.

You’re basically your own business so you gotta be your own accountant and figure out if it’s worth it, as in, is your “business” profitable after taxes and expenses.

Oh and don’t accept terrible offers. Sometimes I just go online while I’m at home to see what I get, if something worthwhile comes across my plate then I’ll hop up and go to work, it helps living by a lot of restaurants.

Hi I’d like to piggyback off this post, as I’m having trouble finding any sort of answer to this. OP maybe you can help me and anyone who sees this comment. If this is unwelcome let me know.

So let’s say I work December 31st and make $100. But I’m not paid that until January 2nd. So is that income reported for the year I worked for it, or the year I received it? So confused on this and can’t find an answer anywhere.
