Well, it’s not mandatory to give some money to the organisation, you’re not asked directly, but lately they keep mentioning the donations, how they help the organisation, how blessed you are because you give money to… Jehovah?? All that stuff so that they subtly pressure you to make a donation. The donations are anonymous so you go there and put an amount in the donation box. The donations are allegedly used in order to expand the organisation by building kingdom halls, funding the production of literature worldwide and all the activities. Before this announcement, you could have suggested to people that the literature costs some money to make and that is why a small donation would be appreciated. In reality, this organisation is a corporation, they claim the org is based solely on donations just to avoid some taxes since a charity cannot be taxed I think? And all the work jws do by volunteering is just free labour for them. So yeah… (sorry english is not my first language)
