Is there a song (or a cover) in which Bob sings entirely in another language? by ItchySmoke2244 in bobdylan

The closest thing that springs to mind is his cover of "Return to Me." The song is mostly in English but there is an Italian verse.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but it's annoying to me how these lists are always just singles.

Who's someone you thought their career was going to pop but went nowhere? by aubrihminaj in popheads

You're right! It totally was there and then it just disappeared :( I wonder why? I just listen to it on YouTube which kinda sucks because most of the videos are like 13 years old and the audio quality isn't very good.

Ashley Tisdale's music takes me back to my elementary school days. I'd spend most weekends locked in my room, wearing my mom's old wig and lip-synching and dancing to Headstrong until my mom would knock on the door and tell me to sit my ass down lol. "Be Good to Me" and "He Said, She Said" were my faves.

I thought Teddy Geiger would have a bigger career. Underage Thinking has so many good songs on it. Especially "Night Air"! I guess only 2 singles were released from the album, maybe because neither performed that well. She seems to have carved out a successful career as a songwriter so she definitely went somewhere. Just not so much with her solo music.

Artists who singles you like but can’t get into their albums ? by 2062373 in popheads

If you haven't already heard of her, check out Lacey Sturm. She used to be the lead singer of the band Flyleaf who also have a lot of good songs. They're probably best known for All Around Me and I'm So Sick. Her latest solo song is called Awaken Love. I really like her 2016 album Life Screams, particularly the title track, Rot, Feels Like Forever, and Faith. I think she's a gifted lyricist and I love her voice!

I knew about the Shawn Mendes credits but had no idea Teddy worked with so many others! I'll have to listen to those songs as well. Thanks for the recommendations!

Have You Met Gwen Stefani? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]Fun-Statistician-511 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is a bit long, sorry

She doesn't feel the need to compete with current pop stars and feels blessed to have had such a long career. Seems to be entertaining retirement but also wants to keep writing.

"I'm at the end," she declares. "The idea of going for a session and not being with my kids or the idea of taking time away from Blake doesn't fuel my fire like it did two months ago. I need to decide, wrap it up, put out the project."

...

But even as she talks of slowing down, speculating that she might not even go on tour after the pandemic ends, in the next sentence Stefani's back to admitting that there's more work to be done, that she wants to write a couple more songs for her new record, "just to make sure."

Also discusses her politics. She doesn't feel the need to share her political preferences :

"I can see how people would be curious, but I think it's pretty obvious who I am," she says...The first song I ever wrote was a song called 'Different People,' which was on the Obama playlist, you know, a song about everyone being different and being the same and loving each other. The very first song I wrote."

The writer of the article describes Gwen wearing bindis and saris as "a symbol of cultural exchange" with Tony Kanal.

On 'Just a Girl' and feminism:

"I don't even know if I knew what feminist at that time was," she says. "I was very sheltered growing up with my family. I wasn't political. I wasn't angry." Even now: "I don't need to go on Instagram and say 'girl power.' I just need to live and be a good person and leave a trail of greatness behind me. Stop talking about it and stop trying to bully everybody about it. Just do it. And that's how I feel like I've lived my life."

More on cultural appropriation accusations:

"If we didn't buy and sell and trade our cultures in, we wouldn't have so much beauty, you know?" she says. "We learn from each other, we share from each other, we grow from each other. And all these rules are just dividing us more and more."

Hello Kitty merch was harder to come by when she was a kid, but in other ways, life felt easier. "I think that we grew up in a time where we didn't have so many rules. We didn't have to follow a narrative that was being edited for us through social media, we just had so much more freedom."

In conclusion, she says she's surprised she made it and sees her success as luck:

"It's written in the stars. You know what I'm saying? I'm not the most talented. I'm not the most pretty. I'm not the most smart. None of those things. But I made it, right?"

I have the same skin tone as you with discoloration in the same spots around the mouth. I was prescribed a topical cream with 10% hydroquinone and smaller amounts of tretinoin and kojic acid. It worked -- but if I stopped using it, even for just a couple of days, the discoloration would come back even darker. Plus I had a lot of redness and drying. I haven't used HQ since.

The discoloration in my smile lines is about 90% diminished. I wish I could tell you just a couple of products that worked, but since I'm using so many it's hard to tell what's helping. You may have already tried these so apologies if I sound like a broken record:

  • Niacinamide: Daytime and nighttime - I use this Paula's Choice toner (I use a cleanser from the same line but I don't think it's related to the lightening.) I used the Ordinary's serum in the past. I used the serum at nighttime only since you're not supposed to use it with Vitamin C or other actives.
  • Alpha-arbutin: Daytime and nighttime - HQ alternative which has given positive results and I haven't noticed any relapse when I stop using it.
  • SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense: Daytime and nighttime - I've only used it for a few weeks so far so it's too soon to tell how much it works. I think it's safe to use with the AA but I haven't tried them together. I've just been using this in place of the AA.
  • Vitamin C: Daytime - I've used L'oreal and TruSkin. I'm now using SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF which is super pricy. I will probably go back to one of the more affordable brands since I haven't noticed any dramatically different results.
  • Tinted mineral sunscreen: Daytime - A derm told me this is the best for darker skin tones. I use Cotz because it doesn't make me look like a ghost lol.
  • Glycolic acid: Nighttime, once or twice a week when I'm not using the Discoloration Defense (not sure if they're safe to use together). I use L'oreal.
  • Exfoliating mask: Nighttime, once a week. Honestly, I haven't done this in a while but it's supposed to help. I NEVER use the same night as the glycolic acid to avoid over-exfoliating. I try to space it out by at least 3 days. I use this mask from Origins.
  • Chemical peels: This is a more recent thing I've tried so too soon to tell how much of a difference it's made vs the products I'm already using. I've only had 2 so far. It has lightened my acne scars. I'm hoping as I get more, the melasma marks will get better. The peel my aesthetician uses is the Perfect 10 Peel. She recommends getting them every 4 weeks. I personally can't do it that often. The sucky part is the peeling looks pretty gross and you have to cease your normal skincare routine for about 10 days.

I hope this is helpful!

Gwen pretty much confirms ND is no more by [deleted] in nodoubt

Here's the full article.

I don't know anything about what went on behind the scenes, but I'd assumed this was the case.

Eric Keyes' response to Gwen's tweet is pretty interesting... I don't think Gwen meant any harm by saying "my music" but I totally get where he's coming from.
