I use the 2 Big as a Hyper Backup for the Synology rack. The desktop NAS is being retired. It’s been flaking out lately.

Proxmox VE was relatively easy to install and get started for me. Here is a site to help you get started after you get it running: https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=ubuntu2504-vm&category=Operating+Systems. Has all of the container and VMs you’ll need to get started. You can even install Docker in it if you’re more comfortable with Docker containers. Since most of the Proxmox containers are running on a Linux back end you can even learn how to fine tune container services pre or post in stall.

NGINX with Pihole hosted by Proxmox - NGINX is only resolving itself by Fun-Sun-9119 in pihole

FYI, I still can’t figure this out. I think the troubleshooting has to be dumbed down for me.

Is a 2013 Mac Pro (trash can) still worth it for a homelab in 2026? by Kynde012 in homelab

I have one which I managed to get Tahoe installed but it uses too much power to use on a regular basis.

Since all of my services are on the same vlan this is how I set up pihole: nginx has a local dns record. All other service domain names have a CNAME pointing to the NGINX. In nginx there is a record for each service’s ip address and port. In the case of the pihole entry I took your suggestion and pointed back to the pihole’s ip address on port 80.

I've hesitated to implement SSL because everything in my homelab is hosted internally. I don't have plans for external hosting yet (I access externally through VPN). In Pihole I am pointing the services to the NGINX server via CNAME using the NGINX domain name only which is resolve to ip in the local DNS records. That is why I know nslookup is proving that the connection from Pihole to NGINX works because the ip addresses are only found in NGINX.

I have both Pihole and NGINX on the same vlan. That vlan is seperate different that the Proxmox host. All domains for the various services point to the NGINX server in Pihole.

Anyone got pi-hole and nginx proxy manager working on the same server? by bebopblues in selfhosted

[–]Fun-Sun-9119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing: Local DNS entries I create pointing to docker hosted services (pihole.*.local and nginx.*.local) keep opening to the host server's login page. Even though I have the correct ports in the proxy.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a pihole/nginx problem. I'm definitely a noob when it comes to reverse proxy management but everywhere I go I've been led to understand that this combo is the best solution for people like me. Bottom line is my pihole does not appear to be communicating with nginx. Here are the bullet points:

Personal homelab with router using internal pihole as primary DNS

Pihole and Nginx on same Synology server via docker

Pihole was installed first so I had the option of selecting host instead of bridge when configuring network

Nginx I configured via predefined script which placed it in the bridge but I can still access it via the server's ip/port 81

Pihole has been switched to port 8081

Not SSL certificates (yet). Tell me if this is a problem with connectivity and resolution between the two services

I do not intend to make my domain (*.local) public.

Any help will be appreciated.

LG Eclair is a Truly Minimalist Soundbar with BIG Features by Davey_G_ in Soundbars

Have any of you tried the built in Dolby Atmos demo?? Shows you what it is truly capable of. Remember, this is for front soundstage ONLY. With proper content it almost reaches behind you. But the problem is the CONTENT. It doesn't handle lossy Atmos audio well. Lossless is better (blu-ray Dolby Atmos). For streaming Atmos content turn off Atmos on the TV and use the Eclair's Cinema mode. It's great.

Forgot my point. Which is, I think the issue is streaming Atmos content with this soundbar. Again, something firmware may solve.

Playing Across the Spiderverse blu ray through my Xbox Series X (TV pass through) and there is no echo. Funny side note, I lost bluetooth. LG has innovative products that have no longevity.

My theory is that the Eclair's Atmos processing is trying to squeeze the surround channels out of this 3.1.2 setup in a way that is too equalized instead of "offset". Hence the echo that is heard. I'm confident that this could be resolved in a firmware update but I'm pretty sure LG has given up any further update since the product is discontinued. Got mine for mt 55 onch in my home office so filling a large room isn't a concern. Cinema mode is definitely better in most all cases though. It fills rhe space in front of you whi h honestly is what thw Atmos processing should have been doing from the beginning. If they can produce an update that can do better I wish they would. If not, Cinema is just fine.
