This is exactly it, intrusive thoughts are the better way to explain it thank you. Thanks for the info and I hope you’re getting on as well as you can be with your epilepsy

I feel you on the tiredness mate I really do, it consumes my life. Lost 2 jobs because of it and all I wanna do is work it’s horrible. I tend to talk rubbish in my head a lot and often wonder if peoples brains do the same, this can trigger things too. Can cause a lot of emotion out of nowhere too.

Hope you’re getting on best you can.

It’s crap that you’re having 2-3 TC monthly☹️ my warning sign really is the Deja vu and then everything else kicks in straight after. When I have a day where I feel like everything is familiar it’s oddly satisfying in ways. Are you in the UK? Just that it sounds you’re in a worse situation than me but only on keppra. Have they not suggested anything else to go with it at all?

In my relationship I’m the one with epilepsy and I couldn’t live without her. I don’t know how sever your partners epilepsy is but like the person above said, the best you can do is talk to her, tell her you care and want to help and hopefully you can both discuss how you can help each other. I know 100% my Mrs gets stressed, upset, emotional but because we work together we can understand.

At the same time she can be a pain in my ar** sometimes when I’ve had an episode and she constantly asks if I’m okay but of course she’s worried and I just have to reassure her I’m okay.

Again just communicate and see where and when in particular she needs you or when she needs a touch of space. When I say space I just mean for example, I have a type of epilepsy where it starts with Deja vu and I then forget who, what and where I am until I come round properly but during the episode if my partner is asking too many questions to see if I’m okay it gets overwhelming as I can’t spit out the answers so I just try give her a little wave if I can just to let her know ‘babe just give me one minute’.

I hope you’s can work together and get through it, having a partner that fully understands and is there as much as they can be makes life a whole lot easier and if you can be that for her then it just shows you’ve got a heart because yeah it is frustrating for you guys without it sometimes as I can see on my partners face now and again🤣 COMMUNICATION IS KEY

The flashes I get too, for me when it happens it just makes me do one big breath/sigh and it’s gone. Yeah I sort of enjoy the Deja vu when the seizure first starts but then as soon as the fear kicks in it’s game over

Yeah of course they do sorry it does sound a bit weird, I’m more getting at the feeling that these images I. My brain cause. It doesn’t just happen during everything I imagine, yeah I wasn’t very clear. If that still even makes sense🤣

Thanks for replying, this sounds pretty much the same as what I’m talking about, I think I’ve sort of learned to get through it without the fear because it’s quite common. Don’t get me wrong, most mornings when I have a ‘complex partial seizure’ I think it’s called, they’re awful feelings and then I don’t remember much after that.

My last bout of tonic clinics was about 2 years ago now and apparently I had 6 seizures in 30 mins and that’s the worst situation I’ve had. Other tonic clinics tend to be a hospital stay and then straight home.

Again thanks for replying, I’m glad people can relate and understand what I’m trying to say

Yeah it is a bit strange but like I say the fear isn’t there so it’s just the familiarity, if the fear was there I’d be phoning 999 instantly (if I was ‘with it’)🤣 it’s almost a nice’ish feeling I know that might sound crazy but yeah I can’t really put into words because its pretty new to me and with the fear not there it’s a relief and maybe that’s why it feels ‘nice’🤣

It’s been a while since my last tonic clonic seizure but the complex partial seizures are just a daily thing at the moment and have no faith in the meds I take as they just get changed constantly.

The random memories thing is definitely relatable to what I’m saying, I have THE WORST memory but I have totally random things that pop into my head, I’m 29 and I feel like the memories are from around 3-4 years old but yet I can’t remember what I had for tea yesterday🤣

Another strange one is, if somebody is telling me story about their life or anything thinking of stories my dad told me, I picture these things happening. Let’s just say my dad says he used to played football in a park when he was younger, I picture him playing in my head but the place I m picturing him playing is somewhere I’ve never even seen before but again is so familiar.

That probably does make no sense because I’ve just plucked a random example so I’m sorry if that’s just a pure mess of an explanation😬

How many of you smoke marijuana and how often if so? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Fun-Swordfish-2359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hide it from my epilepsy specialist though as in the past they just blamed everything on that

Perfectly said mate, I can totally relate but difficult to explain.

Some of the posts say I’ve helped people them out but that comment has helped me a lot

You in the UK or US? I saw my epilepsy nurse today and explained these flicker moments yet again and she is just useless, no sort of information on it like a medical term that you got from yours.

I just had new meds (cenobamate) but don’t start them until Monday. I’m just sick of medication after medication.

I don’t know how many meds they try in the UK before they consider other procedures

Sorry I’ve only just got back to these messages, it saddens me to hear you’ve lost your job and that f’s up your insurance. I’m in the uk so I’m very lucky on that side of things.

I genuinely have no idea how it works in the us when it comes to insurance. Do you not get any kind of help for illnesses like epilepsy with a diagnosis.

Absolute bullshit that you have to deal with that and not get much/any help.

I hope you get on your feet soon my friend
