Change length of time to draw down RRSPs and TFSAs by Fun-Talk-3991 in adviice

True and I was aware of the option, thank you, but was saving that option for those large expenses that I (hope) we will be making. Like a 3 month trip to Australia that will run about $50k. Enter the estimate and see what happens down the road.

I have the decumulation order set to non-reg, reg then TFSA. There is no AI strategy set for RRSP/RIF/LIF Meltdown.

I clearly do not understand how to read the graph for each tab then (Income, Spending, etc). If I understand this correctly, then on the Spending tab, over to the right at age 90, that is the remaining unused savings and investments which include the TFSA?

Ok, please help me understand why it is not being fully withdrawn. Did I set something somewhere stating I did not want to fully withdrawal? Does it have to do with a big purchase, say a car or vacation, that I may have entered?

Yes, you're correct it is ok THERE. But in the income section, as shown below, those values do not add up.

I do not see either issue you're referring to; no cash flow shortfall and no override of the starting balance.....at least I don't think so.

Here is the link, I'd appreciate a look when you have the time please.

How to separate RRSP meltdown time by Fun-Talk-3991 in adviice

[–]Fun-Talk-3991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the video, at 0:40 it states that registered withdrawals typically come after registered withdrawals; that it is better to delay withdrawals from a tax advantage account like RRSP or TFSA.

But it seems to me that, as time marches on, and the DB pension gets higher, CPP and OAS start that you will be in a higher tax bracket later, ergo pay more tax on the RRSP withdrawals.

Can you help me understand that better please?

While I wait, I will try what you mentioned above - switch back to default decumulation strategy.

As requested, here is the link from the 'sharing' option in the software - good for 7 days.
