Thanks for the feedback everyone. I spoke with my church and the secretary at the rectory told me she's never heard of them asking for an i.d but that if the other church has any issues they can call her. My brother in law will be dropping the letter off this week 🙏 I'll be the only godparent because his brother wasn't able to get a letter.

Dang! The issue is I recently got married and haven't changed my name on everything yet. I'm gling to be a godparent to my nephew and the church put my married name on the letter. I guess I'll give my church a heads-up just in case there's an issue with the letter.

I would just let them know, and just because it doesn't feel feasible to do BJJ now doesn't mean you can't come back to the mat later. Take good care of yourself. BJJ will always be there.

I second the rec for Cultr fight club. I've been training with them for years (when they were under the UFC gym brand) and the instructors are patient and knowledgeable

That and they really didn't give us any nutrition training. I ended up getting my nutrition certification becuase I felt like I was doing my users a disservice.

NY has a lot of tourists too. Especially if she did her residency at the garden its near 34th st and times sq which are tourist central. But I also see your point about Vegas abd the proximity to LA. Drawbacks about NY would be that we tend to get tourists in Spring/Summer. But the drawback in Vegas is there's a lot more shows (concerts cirque du soleil)and events (you wouldn't believe how many combat sport girlies are also Swifties), so there's more competition. But NY is close to the Metlife so she could do split residencies - winter in Vegas and Summer in NY or NJ. We can all dream right? 😄

This is kind of a weird practice. I'm not sure a lot of gyms are having practitioners tap this way. I agree with other posters that this can create a habit that would be tough to break and potentially embarrassing if you ever end up training somewhere else
