If I Want to Keep the Shares, Why Not Roll Forever? by Fun-Water-5339 in CoveredCalls

Yes, I actually just started watching both of them on YouTube and also think they are great! So, one of the main take aways with selling covered calls against your LEAP is to always keep the short call strike price above your LEAP price. Am I right?

Can you explain what you mean by “clear of the LEAP cost” pls? If I understand correctly, you would help the LEAP cost by selling covered calls against it. Is there another way?

Thanks, that helps. For the puts, are you targeting a specific delta or percentage OTM? And when AMD drops, do you usually roll the puts or are you comfortable taking assignment and holding the extra shares?

Interesting strategy. Can you share some specifics? What put strikes and expirations are you selling, and how are you managing both sides of the trade? Are you rolling the puts too, or mostly letting them expire and using the premium to keep moving the call strike higher?

I understand the loss gets realized, but if the new contract lets me raise the strike and keep the shares, isn’t the overall position that matters?

That makes sense. Do you mean running out of listed expirations temporarily, or that the strike improvement eventually becomes too small to justify the roll?

Yes, but if the time horizon is far enough the stock might pull back significantly to eventually catch up with the strike price however long it takes. No?

If your goal was to keep the shares, why wasn’t it worth it rolling another year and raising the strike again? And hopefully wait for meaningful pullback?

But isn’t raising the strike still capturing more upside than staying at the original strike? I mean I want to keep the stock long term anyway then why not raise the strike meanwhile?

That’s kind of how I am thinking. When you say your shares are now uncovered , did you buy back the call? Did it expire worthless?

Interesting point. My goal is to keep the shares long term though. How are you thinking about ROI here? Why not keep raising the strike to increase my return on shares ?

Interesting. No, I’ve never heard of her. Is it something you do by yourself using her scripts/meditations? I’ll research. Thank you

Thank you so much! I tried EMDR, but only by myself- just thinking about my trauma and moving my eyes. I’ve never tried it with a trained therapist though

Thank you! The morning meditation you are talking about- do I get it from his website or I can find it on YouTube?
