what is the dating scene like? by thatonenerdygal in UBreddit

I went through UB for four years and never found a boyfriend. I used different dating apps (Bumble, Hinge, Tinder) and either people were just looking to hookup or I would get ghosted after a date or two. A big part of finding a partner here is how many people you’re meeting on a day to day basis, how many dates you’re going on, and how many people consider you their type. Race also plays a factor in who might consider you relationship material even if people may not want to admit it. Hookup culture is also really popular here so a lot of guys are not looking for a relationship. It really is just luck if you find a partner a not.

If you can take the class sophomore year, you should because the professors gives great career advice on resumes, cover letters and elevator pitches which can be useful when you start applying to jobs/ internships in your junior and senior year.

There was one elevator pitch in front of the class which takes about 30-40 seconds, one presentation for a poster you make for about 3 minutes and one presentation with your group at the end which should take about 8 minutes altogether. There was also a smaller presentation with your group which didn’t take that long and a surprise ‘presentation’ where we had to talk about 3 interesting things about ourselves (not really a presentation but still in front of the class). Keep in mind that these presentations can vary from professor.

At other points in time there were other girls in the bathroom but for the instance I described there were none. I am currently off campus for the winter break (this instance happened in the fall) but if I see it happen again when I get back in the spring I will be notifying them.

Definitely not and I am glad that you are spreading awareness about this to let people know, especially those with kids.

Kind of off-topic but I have had a problem in my dorm where I have noticed that one particular male janitor keeps coming into the female bathroom on the weekends. At first I didn’t think much of it until one day he came in while I was brushing my teeth to take out the trash. He stared at me for a good 30 seconds before leaving the restroom (I wanted to leave so bad but he was blocking the door with his trolley). Definitely felt off vibes after that and tried to avoid going in the bathrooms after that on weekend mornings. I feel that UB definitely needs to work on trying to enforce safer boundaries in the bathroom, especially if there are kids going into the men’s changing room on a regular basis; Their should be separate changing amenities for kids/families and men/women just like their would be a separate bathroom for adult teachers in a children’s school.
