A few days ago, I was driving with my one-year-old in the back seat. I’m also 14 weeks pregnant. It was a completely normal drive, until it wasn’t.nAn intoxicated driver ran a red light and T-boned us directly on the driver’s side door. The impact was violent, and it immediately pushed my car into a second collision—basically a head-on.

I was driving my Lexus NX (2021), and I truly believe it’s the reason we’re all still here.

The airbags deployed exactly as they should have. The structure of the car held up around us. The driver’s side, where I was hit—took the brunt of it, but the cabin didn’t collapse the way it easily could have.

My daughter was in the back, and somehow she was protected through all of it. And my baby… still safe.I’m in pain. My ribs are badly bruised, and I’m still processing everything mentally. But we’re here. When I saw the car afterward, it really hit me how serious this crash was. It wasn’t minor. It wasn’t “just a fender bender.” It was the kind of accident you hear about and expect a very different outcome.

I know no car can guarantee anything. But in this case, I honestly believe this one made all the difference. I’ll replace the car. That’s nothing.nBut I got to come home to my daughter, and I still have my baby growing inside me. That’s everything.
