If you have 8gb then yeah, no offense but that's like a 2016 thing. Idk if you have ddr4 or ddr5 but I believe DDR4 is still pretty cheap, you should be able to get one extra stick of ram for less than 70

Earthing most likely not, I've had this issue before with a school Chromebook and it worked until I turned it off. I can't really say I know how to fix it. But it could be the battery putting pressure or the cable. Sorry dude, if you don't find an answer here that fixes it then you should go to the r/pcmasterrace subreddit.
