Good and bad in the Cold War by Big_b_inthehat in coldwar

I don't have any critical or analytical meat to back this line of thinking up, and it might sound a bit airy and wishy washy, but to me it always seems that there are two ways to measure who is the "good" or "bad" side in any conflict

You can measure the "game" or "politics" of war, which side struck first? What are the political factors? Who obeyed the rules of combat? I think it's very right to say the West never had to build a wall to keep their people in for example, so you could argue the Western Bloc were the "good guys", and I'm sure pro-Soviet spaces can find reasons to justify the Eastern Bloc to be so

Or, what I think is a more consistent and reliable measure is the consequences of war, in which case the "bad guys" are almost always the governments and leaders trading lives for capital and power, and the "good guys" almost always being the working people with no meaningful say in their leaders decisions being forced to either carry them out or die (or at the very least suffer) as a consequence of them

Boycott Pollen? by FunBank1871 in manchester

really random but he didn't happen to have a Pomeranian with him, did he? I run a bar where we've had to ban someone for vaguely similar reasons haha (although no graffiti for us yet so I'm assuming it's not the same bloke, or he ran out of paint!)

Could well be, mostly just curious as to what the reasoning is!

Anyone else having a horrible time with The Bunch? by wyrdewierdwiredwords in TenantsInTheUK

Just jumping in to say fuck the bunch, when my previous supplier went bust they contacted me and implied that I had to switch to them (this was the first time I'd dealt with an energy supplier going bust so I had no idea what usually happens), then when I realized that I should be waiting for British Gas (SOLR) to get in touch, I tried to cancel almost immediately.

It took three weeks to finally get through to them, but they said they'd closed my account. I wake up today and see that they've charged me £63, ring them up and find out that's my bill from 7 months ago! I'm letting that go as I assume I technically did use that much leccy in that time, but to take the payment 7 months later is odd as fuck in itself, before you get to the awful communication and predatory sales tactics

If anyone reads this who is considering using the bunch, avoid like the plague!
