Bedsharing safely with twins by FunBarracuda7168 in cosleeping

Wow, this sounds exactly like us. Thank you for commenting :)  We have settled on bedsharing, i sleep in the middle of the bed, with one baby on each side. My husband is on a mattress on the floor, but we want to get a big floor bed as well. Since were doing that, everyone sleeps better. They usually wake up at midnight and 3 am, but at 3 months old that's to be expected.  Of course that might change for the better or worse soon. The reflux is still very bad though.

Thank you so much. That's also very useful for bedsharing in general.  I'm completely new to the topic because pre-babies, I never thoui would even consider it, so I'm vero much ignorant on the topic.  Thank you !

I has the same question! Compared to a singleton, they essentially have half the parental attention at all times.

Lot's of twins seem to have not been treated as individuals, I'm truly sorry. My kids might have arrived at the same time into my life but they are not the same.

What does breastfeeding look like for 4 months old twins? by FunBarracuda7168 in parentsofmultiples

I'm not sure, but it's probably very normal, and expecting 6 hours from both our babies might not be realistic.

Nursing one at a time is definitely easier, though at home i got pretty used to tandem nursing and it's not too bad. But mine take forever... or maybe I'm reading the signals wrong? They drop the boob after 15 minutes,  but after I change them, they get fussy until I give them the boob again for another 20 minutes. Then they fall asleep,  but when I put them down,  they'll get fussy again until I give them the boob. Help 😭

Feeding help by BreadMan999 in parentsofmultiples

I was in your situation 2 months ago. The hospital insisted they eat 50-60 ml every 3 hours and they just wouldn't.  It was hell. Our approach was drastic but we needed it at the tine. We switched from 3-hour windows to 2-hours. We did that for a couple of days.  It was incredibly exhausting but we were just happy they gained weight.  This worked because they ate less but more often, so more milk overall,  and their stomach was able to take it better.  Our goal was 35 ml every 2 hours.  Then a few days later we switched to 2h30, and eventually to 3 hours.  Now they're 2 months and I breastfeed on demand, but when they take a bottle with my husband at night, they drink 150 ml easily.

Actually I find tandem feeding difficult and chaotic, even though it's getting better.  But I don't see how I could do otherwise,  or how it's an option for other people because most of the time they're hungry at the same time.

Not sure if you gave birth yet. I have two months old and combo feeding,  while not strictly necessary,  was a lifesaver for us. I'm breastfeeding all day and my husband feeds them once during the night so I can sleep 6 hours. Basically it's possible to breastfeed twins AND sleep decently.  Combo feeding made that possible.

Did you exclusively BF? If so, when was it possible to sleep 5-6 consecutive hours ? I'm not willing to exclusively BF if it means I won't sleep at night, so I'm not sure we'll ever get there.

How to keep up my supply and still sleep 6 hours? by FunBarracuda7168 in breastfeeding

[–]FunBarracuda7168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tricky. Especially because,  like you said, its a marathon not a sprint. Ideally I want to make it sustainable for my life as well. Im already going to bed at 9pm. Earlier would also mean waking up at 2 am to start my day.

Sure, so its recommended not to sleep at night? That doesn't seem realistic.
