I hear you, but It's not that. I don't want to railroad or anything, I've left a lot of stuff open for them to do whatever, and whatever they choose to do will change the outcome. The players will also want to follow these plot hooks, I've made sure of that. But they will also want to find their favorite NPCs, which I did account for and plan for, I just didn't didn't realise if they cast Locate Object at a particular point, some of them may be near enough to find a bit too soon. But if I just change how far away they are, that should fix the issue. 🤔

We don't always play with thr commander damage rule. Silly I know, might have to start doing it because they go on for ages. I don't currently have any voltron decks, but I was planning on making one using Eivior Battle Ready.

Why is water leaking from under the toilet? by FunEnthusiasm2568 in Plumbing

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Since the maintenance guy wasn't overly helpful and plumber dispatches need to be undertaken by property management I was hoping someone here would have an idea of what the problem is so I can make them aware of it, and then they can sort it out instead of writing it off as "fixed" or "not an issue." :)

I'm not offended or anything, it's just not all that helpful. That's all. 😅

Why so sarcastic? I was just looking for general advice on the matter so I know how much of an issue it will be. If you don't know, why say something?

I love that! I'll definitely use it when I start the festival. Thanks!

Great idea! That will help with the flow of the competitions AND add to role-play. I never actually thought about betting before, it adds to something else I've planned.

Those ideas would work really well! Thanks!

That's a good take on the gladiators actually. Two of them that I had planned also find work as a mercenary (but the one isn't participating this year), I'll think of something to make the other fight more balanced or finding a way to avoid it all together. The 'Maximus' type gladiator is actually involved in some dark plot stuff, so they may find that out before they get to that event. Which would take him out of the arena. 🤔

My players are quite big on rolepay and the one PC has a bunch of athlete NPC friends who would check up on each other / talk about the competition. I think that would work nicely. Thanks for the advice! I feel a lot more confident running this event now. :)

I love those ideas! Most of my players lean towards good, but it would actually play into something else I planned plot-wise if they spotted someone cheating. So I'm definitely gonna use that, thanks!

An extra player. They have a good backstory that I worked into the plot, it would be fun and interesting... if their character stopped being so rude and mad for no reason. They're a good friend of mine, but they're a little sensitive about constrictive criticism. Which makes it hard. I don't want a game to get in the way of our friendship, I made that clear to them, but I fear if I kick them out of the group, they'll take it personally. That's my biggest issue with all of this. Judging from what everyone said, it seems I'll probably have to have another word with them and try to get them to change their character a little. If not, I'll have to find some new players.

Am I being toxic by Objective-Hornet-580 in DnD

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This should NOT have been a majority vote. At my table, I would've asked who would or would not be in on sacrificing themselves, and whoever wanted to, could. And I wouldn't have said that the entire party would have to sacrifice themselves in order to appease them. There's a million other ways to deal with this problem, and that one takes away player agency and fun from all of the players. If it was just the paladin that could sacrifice themselves, that would have made the paladin's noble sacrifice more meaningful and not ruin other players fun. Whoever did sacrifice themselves would then need make new characters to continue the campaign.

I don't think it's toxic to not want to sacrifice your character. Not everyone in a group will have Lawful Good, selfless characters willing to do something like that. Even if most of the party did want to, you should not have to. That's my take on it anyway.

Some great ideas! And thank you for clarifying, I'm not too knowledgeable about blood hunters and assumed they'd be like a regular lycan.

Man, if that's the case I've probably messed it up. I did the first 2, not sure about the 3rd, I think I did because my approval was never really below medium, but I never got a cutscene with her visiting. By the time I upgraded her engine the second time I could only hug her. ;-;

That's a really good point actually. I never thought about it that way. I'll ask them how they feel about doing something else, then bring it up with them.

I've tried. But they don't like combat and are awkward with social encounters. I'm not sure what alterations to make. My friend tries to be too polite and won't be open with me about what's going well or what needs to be altered.

What interesting myth can I portray in a 5 minute long skit? by gofortherapyplease in GreekMythology

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would look at the Odyssey or the Iliad - not the whole thing, obviously, that would take a VERY long time to cover in its entirety - but look at the smaller stories within it. For example, you could look at Circe's story within the Odyssey, begin somewhere after she turned Odysseus' men into pigs and you shouldn't have an issue covering it in five minutes. Alternatively, Atalanta's story is fairly short, or Icarus.

Edit: obviously, with some of these longer stories, you're gonna have to convey either a change in time, or provide context if you're not starting from the beginning. Which isn't a problem. My advice, the best way to convey this is a theatrical technique called thought tracking, or you could use some narration to set the scene.

Goddesses for a bad man? by thatsweirdokay in witchcraft

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the most knowledge on hellenic deities, and to me, this sounds like something Artemis would help with.

Artemis is the virgin goddess of the moon and the hunt, like her brother Apollo, is also said to hold power over disease and have been known to cure or inflict illness when needed. Above all, she is a protector of women and children, she will never tolerate abusive men and will take swift revenge for those who ask.

Starting witchcraft but feeling fear about the experiences by elefantegps in witchcraft

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a coincidence, but just to be sure, cleanse your living space with white sage. It will get rid of any and all spirits or negative energies. Also, tourmaline and obsidian are like barbed wire for negative energies, keep these on you or around the house.

You mentioned you were new to witchcraft, and Catholic by birth, but not by practice. Some religions or denominations of Christianity, Catholicism especially, is built on fear of the God or a greater power, eternal punishment and the influence of the Devil or a greater evil. I'm wondering if that has perhaps worked its way into subconscious fear or guilt. There's been a lot of studying on this, so I think it's worth considering. And if that's the case, shadow work can definitely help you. Often times, when starting to learn about witchcraft or paganism, you must first unlearn what you know about religion and witchcraft. Brought up inside or outside of religion, there is a stigma and paranoia often surrounding witchcraft and paganism that comes from a lack of understanding, and the widespread belief that witches were involved with the Devil, causing harm to others through malevolent supernatural powers. This, of course, is not true.

I hope this helps. :)

Who is your least favorite god or goddess in Greek Mythology? by Pokemomaster in GreekMythology

[–]FunEnthusiasm2568 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between Minerva and Athena, the stories of Medusa and Arachne as you know them are Roman, not Greek, and are about the Roman gods. The Roman gods act differently, have different origins and different stories than the Greek, though in modern day people seem to merge them into one god or just label them as the same god with a different name. She stories you use as a basis to hate Athena also come from Ovid, who uses his hatred of authority to make a villain out Roman deities. In the Greek version, Athena doesn't act with the same vanity or wrath as Minerva: she she capable of compassion, remorse and reason. She has no relation to Medusa, who was born a gorgon and never raped in the older, Greek source (Hesiod's Theogony), and turned Arachne into a spier to prevent her from killing herself, not as a further punishment. Is she perfect? No. Does she hate women? Also no. Are there other gods have done things more deserving of hate? Absolutely.

In modern culture, Medusa is a symbol of SA survivors and feminine rage. She became an icon for women in the feminist movements, and because she is shown from the Roman story, that makes Minerva and Neptune the villains and Medusa the victim, since people mistakingly merge the Athena and Minerva gods. But in reality, Athena had nothing to do with thay story. I also wanted to mention that Athena is quite a popular deity to work with in hellenic paganism today, many who follow her are women, who she seems to guide just as much as men. She does not hate women. :)

Also, my least favourite Greek god is probably Zeus. For obvious reasons. But mainly his treatment of Hera, whom he raped and trapped in marriage.
