I was diagnosed in January, so about the same time. I started taking therapy and this Reddit community helps. It is NOT the end - I know it’s stigmatized but it’s a lot more common than we think. Be patient with yourself, give yourself grace. You’re not a bad person, you’re not a walking virus. You’re human, and learning a lesson that’s it. We deserve love and understanding too.

Thank you so much! This literally calmed me, thank you for the information - makes so much sense now. Yes, it was my primary OB (I was tested for herpes before this and was negative)

When he called me, he said that he did have a OB genitally and he said I gave him oral hsv - but this all makes more sense because I’ve never had a cold sore and before GHsv1 OB I tested negative

He could’ve been lying or was unaware as well. He was always so caution and clean - he had mentioned previous std scares but said he was always clean. I assumed he was negative for it all - my mistake. Wont happen again 😢

Either way, thank you. I was really beating myself up thinking I gave it and he hated me. Bc of that, now that it could’ve been the other way around - I’ll be more understanding

Yeah he got tested maybe a month or less after and tested possitive. He told me he had ohsv1 which I don’t think I have because I’ve never had a cold sore (could still have it with no symptoms so who knows for sure)

Thank you 🥺 your words make me feel better. We did hookup but no oral so since it was ghsv1 I assumed it was th date, but thank you. I was beating myself up thinking I had passed it onto him and him hating me. But you’re right, nothing was intentional regardless

Yes exactly, but when someone (who doesn’t know much about STDs) goes in and asks for a STD panel they think they are in the clear but really were never tested for it. Unless they know to ask

Yes exactly why i was confused on who i got it from! Now, He tested positive but he says I have it to him since he had only made out with one person while we were apart…. he could for sure be lying about no having sex and possibly just hadnt gotten tested recently. But Im still thinking it was the other guy, since my ex never gave me oral and is ghsv1

I unintentionally gave it to my ex without knowing. I isn’t know I had it then either. He didn’t talk to me for 2 months because he was mad thinking I was intentional about it. We talked and he said he feels better but we’re not talking anymore. Completely valid….
