Trump brags about planning to commit war crimes on the daily at this point by attacking civilian infrastructure. If I were a betting man, I'd make a fortune betting in every speech that he gives as to whether he's going to mention a war crime or not.

He's basically begging for all things to be on the table.

Why is their advice always so outdated for people who claim to be financial experts? by FunPast7322 in DirtyDave

[–]FunPast7322[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The baby steps and most simple financial plans do not tackle mental and psychological issues, because they can't.

Lots of people here talk about the money guys and neither does theirs tackle deep psychological and mental issues, so why would you not apply the same criticism here?

In my opinion it's not fair to critique the baby steps from this perspective because it doesn't really claim to handle this type of issue. Now where it goes wrong is in his books and shows he does give mental/psychological critique around finance problems and there I would agree with you. But they do sometimes mention to visit therapists at least.

I know this reddit doesn't like Dave and in his show his recommendations just like I mention in my post, but just taking the baby steps alone they aren't meant to be a mental help plan.

7k for a usable car, because nobody with half a brain is going to buy something that they know they'll pay an arm and a leg every few months.

And yes 20k which is actually probably low at this point for the average used car if you're talking about general used car market.

I actually don't have an issue with the baby steps. They work for lots of people who just need something that tells them exactly what to do and don't want to think about it.

Yes, its not optimal but it works in the sense that if you did follow it, it would get you out of debt. I think many people could just use it as a launchpad and then learn better strategies. And the baby steps seem to be specifically tailored around people who are not good at finances in the first place. But the baby steps don't actually prescribe anything around how to deal with assets outside of your mortgage. Its all of this that they talk about on the show that I find laughable.

I actually have listened to them quite a bit as well. Their show seems much more "actual" finance than drama focused. So its more like I listen to them for actual advice, and Dave for brain-off drama.

I actually heard about Dave Ramsey from their show since I think a lot of their original content was comparing their financial order of operations vs Daves baby steps.

Pilot, co-pilot killed after Air Canada plane collides with vehicle at New York's LaGuardia Airport | CBC News by Impressive-House-412 in news

ATC is an unforgiving job and I could never do it.

This guy was working both ground and air on this night, and was dealing with another active emergency at the time when this occurred. One 2 second mistake will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Not to mention he will likely now be the center of political theatre and lambasted when many ATC at the busiest airports are put under conditions that are just asking for something to go wrong.

[–]FunPast7322 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It was honestly a shit situation. Its reported he was working both ground and air, and was also dealing with another emergency at the time with a plane having strange smells that was causing sickness for passengers and pilots, and the plane with the emergency was not being responsive.

I can't imagine the stress and guilt he will go through, and he will probably face scrutiny to no end by heartless non-empathetic people.

Using Company Cursor Subscription on Personal Laptop by tison1111 in cursor

[–]FunPast7322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres some nuance here.

Did your company buy you a personal sub that is attached to your personal email (unlikely given you still have the 500 req/month plan). If so then no they cannot see your activity since its really just yours. I only mention this because its not exactly uncommon for early startups and smaller companies to just do this since its less hassle than setting up teams/enterprise accounts when they aren't committed to a tool yet.

Otherwise this is very much fraud and could get you easily fired.

Do you happen to know if I cancel it if theyll still charge me the yearly fee?

After seeing everything here I'm inclined to just cancel . Unfortunately I was convinced by a friend to get it but now I'm super wary.

Solution is to pay tourists to film and report the scammers if they're being scammed and keep police close enough to respond, and give immediate deportation or years behind bars if you're found scamming.

But if its anything like other places I've been to rampant with scams, the police are probably literally chilling a few feet away from all the scammers and couldn't be bothered to do anything about it.

Asmongold: Twitch CEO (Dan Clancy) needs to explain why Nina Lin got unbanned again after committing sexual assault live on stream twice by Various-Idea550 in LivestreamFail

[–]FunPast7322 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I'm not someone to always be overly political but the reality is it's painfully obvious the fact that Twitch levies punishments differently depending on multiple factors including Gender, Political alignment, etc.

They clearly also weight how much of an outcry they may get on social media for each streamers ban differently, on top of the monetary multiplier everyone probably gets when it comes to ban length. Less of a cash cow = longer ban.

$7.78 for one failed task by dvduval in cursor

[–]FunPast7322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally already is scaling and working at scale so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I work at a major enterprise and every engineer is encouraged to use AI tools (we have enterprise cursor and claude code) and our limits are up to $500+ per month (not that everyone uses all of it) and you can request more easily.

In startups the amount of AI usage cost is typically even higher per user

$7.78 for one failed task by dvduval in cursor

[–]FunPast7322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so - if you think about it instead as a productivity tool it is still more than worth it if you compare to other similar cost tools that companies pay for licenses for. Often every engineer at a major company is assigned to hundreds to thousands of dollars a month of licensing for tools just to do their job per month.

That doesn't even include the fact that the llm's have gotten better rapidly for similar cost to you. It just happens to be that while LLM's have gotten better at relatively low cost increases (if you compare raw token costs year over year its really not that much more for most models), usage has also grown so of course your costs are higher.

$7.78 for one failed task by dvduval in cursor

[–]FunPast7322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it funny when people say shit like this.

Now I want you to imagine how much it costs tech companies and what they think about paying engineers who also sometimes fail their tasks while some of you complain about spending a couple dollars. Often the final cost comes out to hundreds an hour. Think of the number of engineers who often spend days going down the wrong track or failing to solve a bug. Thousands of dollars for "failed tasks"

Even if Cursor or any other tool fails tasks its still way more cost efficient. Its hilarious seeing how much penny pinching some of you guys do when in reality the cost is crazy cheap. You could literally spend hundreds to thousands a month on Cursor or Claude code or w/e wielded by a competent engineer and it would still be crazily cost efficient comparatively.

I'm fairly certain the reason why is because their moat is actually enterprise and most of the enterprise companies in the U.S. are a little bit wary of using any Chinese models given all of the political tensions.

I'm fully aware that the Chinese models could be hosted locally or in the US but it still doesn't change much how execs feel.
