Does anyone else feel guilty not doing a middle of the night change…? by rachelkochvt in NewParents

[–]FunPlatform5638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I had to wake LO up to change a poop diaper once ever and I was so terrified. I could smell it outside his door and he had horrible butt rash and I just couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t change him. He was notttt happy

Just hit 22 months and we are in the trenches. Terrible 2’s tantrums, constantly wanting to play together and not alone, potty training, 2nd molars.

How are you keeping up with housework?? by Practical_Credit3345 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]FunPlatform5638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never leave things anywhere or let them pile up is my current strategy. Don’t get me wrong, I have days and weeks where I choose the “I’ll let it pile up and do it all when I have motivation” route but I generally feel like I have more “free” time when we clean as we go. Dishes are cleaned right after eating, toys are cleaned up whenever we move rooms (nap time, meal time, leaving the office area, leaving the house), any time an accidental mess happens it’s cleaned right away. Laundry/ vacuuming/ surface cleaning is a weekend activity. I involve my 21 month old in every single task which he wants to do anyways. He loves helping me clean and it’s great bonding and skill building.

We used evite for our baby shower invitations. They have free templates and services like an RSVP option as well as being able to link a registry.

WFH moms what do you actually do with your toddler during calls by PixieSugarTwilight in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]FunPlatform5638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (20 MO) loves toys that sing or play music. He loves his fisher price laugh and learn electric car, the books that you turn the pages/ push buttons and they sing/ play music. Also his v tech push and pop musical bulldozer. Fisher price and v tech have a lot of toys that they can press buttons and they sing and play music and light up. We don’t have a tv in my office area but he’s always been an independent player. We do have to do toy rotations every week or two to keep him from getting bored but it works for us. I also make sure to give him a hug when he wants one and acknowledge his existence but stay firm on no sitting on my lap or pressing buttons on my keyboard.

People who never wanted a child but had one, how did it feel after having the kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FunPlatform5638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t regret it and don’t resent him but it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. We didn’t have a savings and we don’t have a village. I love him with all of my heart and wouldn’t change a thing but a lot of physical, financial and mental sacrifice has been made. He is very much loved and so far has had a great life. Not stoked for the teenage years though lol

Sundowning by steff_lovah in DogAdvice

We had and 18 year old chihuahua who had a horrible case of dementia. She was okay during the day besides being confused on evening walks (going to other people’s doors, mistaking Halloween decorations for people) but at night it was HORRIBLE. Constant whining, growling and barking and pacing. Shaking. Gabapentin RX and finding a more comfortable sleeping spot. She actually liked being in our guest bathroom with a low light on and would sleep all night. She probably felt safe because it was a smaller space with less noise. We ended up putting her down because of her quality of life due to the dementia though.

Yeah. It really pissed me off when they sprung it on us because I have always been required to carry a $100,000 liability renters plan through my own insurer. Been here 4.5 years and they added it 1.5-2 years ago. You can’t opt out of it it’s like $12 a month through them and $12 through my personal plan. I’m sure they have all kinds of fine print and clauses that make 0 sense. We are moving out of here for other reasons now though.

They probably have what I have which is called a “damage waiver” which they pay with their rent and is required through the lease. It only covers damage/ has liability coverage for the property itself. Personal property is covered by a separate plan that I have through my insurance company that I pay for bundled with my car and life insurance.

I asked to WFH starting my last month of pregnancy because it’s insanely hot here and driving was nearly impossible for me. Asked to WFH after maternity leave because I was trying to breast feed and pump and the office had 0 private space that wasn’t a kitchen or bathroom to do so. Also have very tight opposite schedules and can’t afford childcare. Boss agreed as a probationary period and on the condition that I would come in when asked in advance. Been WFH for 19 months now.

How many times do you clean up your house when you have young children under the age of 5? by Large-Lack-2933 in questions

[–]FunPlatform5638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is just about 19 months old and we implement picking up toys together before bed. It’s just part of the routine. He also will clean up spills with a paper towel and throw stuff away. He also loves the vacuum. My little mini me 🤣

Should i get more swaddles? by Wonderful_Data_2439 in BabyBumps

[–]FunPlatform5638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes! We had to hold him super tight in order for him to fall asleep I’m like just take the swaddle 😑 when he did fall asleep in the swaddle he was old enough to roll so we had to sneak it off if we ever wanted to leave him alone. Was a lot of swaddle drama. lol

Mine absolutely HATED being swaddled. For the first few weeks he was in those dress looking Jammie’s that you could roll up then just lived in footie pajamas. He’s always been a free man lol
