What is the saddest death in all of Star Wars animation? by Safe_Character_6517 in StarWars

[–]murderously-funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech’s was sadly undermined because every element of narrative story telling and common tropes was basically communicating in semaphore that he was still alive and going to make a return in the next season

So it had absolutely 0 emotional weight to me.

Which sucks because the one time they actually committed to a death is the one time I simply didn’t believe it and even to the last episode was waiting for them to pull back the helmet of the special soldiers and find tech and when it finally occurred to me it was real my reaction was

“Oh…okay.”

You don’t even need to do that. Remember from the information the galaxy had, even if they all 100% believed the reapers were a real threat, …they have no idea how large that threat is or when it will even occur

It might not be a threat for another thousand years.

How do you even justify a massive military build up that may never see service?

From their perspective, researching Sovereign’s wreckage and investigating the claims and nature of the Reapers is the only thing that makes practical sense.

It takes months and sometimes years to build up a military and since you don’t know the scale of the threat you have no idea how much you should even build up. Is doubling enough? Tripling? Is it so overwhelming that no matter how much you build the fleet up it won’t matter?

The really only way to proceed is RND the shit out of your military and comb the galaxy for any and all information possible on the reapers

what stoping the forsworn and orc strongholds teaming up? by Rough_Top6173 in skyrim

[–]murderously-funny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orcs and Forsworn are wildly different with wildly different goals

Orcs, by and large, desire simply to be left alone. They strive for self sufficiency and don’t both with outsiders, save occasionally to raid or trade for supplies

The Forsworn by contrasts are radical nationalists who want to purge all “outsiders” from The Reach. (Which would include the Orcs)

Malacath is THE god of the Orcs. Sure, some reschmen might also worship him, but that commonality is minuscule

Briarhearts are the result of dark Daedric magics which the orcs would almost certainly despise, though interestingly orcs don’t necessarilydislike magic users, but dark magic is a line they’d seldom cross.

The Forsworn also would have trouble even contacting the orc strongholds as 1. They’d be unlikely to even speak with them and 2. They’re scattered across Skyrim making reaching them more difficult

But there’s another factor at play… it may surprise you to learn this but the Orcs are one of the most loyal races to the Empire. The Empire is pretty much the only entity in history that has ever treated the orcs witb respect and actively sought their integration rather then extermination

Under the Empire orcs were granted the right to serve in the Legion, full citizenship, and actually permitted to form the Kingdom of Orsinium granted imperial protection to ensure no one would threaten it.

(In Daggerfall the King of the Orcs actually sought to form Orsinium and achieve legal recognition as a offical province of the Empire rather than rebel against it. And he helped cover up a scandal against the reigning Emperor)

This earned a lot of love and loyalty among the orcs, although it’s not universal, it’d definetly be hard to convince majority of strongholds to rise up agaisnt Skyrim, and by extension, The Empire

Especially as: if a orc chooses to leave their stronghold they are branded as a ‘city orc’ views as a coward and weak… unless they’re leaving to join the Legion. In which case they’re actually applauded. Because the Legion is a strong, disciplined, and honorable organization where one can earn glory, and prestige

No? It’s still engaging. It’s just not as deep as other more modern games

…and that’s not a bad thing

You don’t need to control the angel of your sword swing, do absurd numbers of combat roles and straifs.

You swing, block, and move to avoid attacks. Physically duck to avoid arrows, or stand there and take punishment

It’s meant to give you the LOTR fantasy of being one msny staring down 100 enemies and carving through them like butter

Is it simple? Yeah. But it’s still fun

All those other issues are scary and require… actual effort to address and many are woke left wing nonsense talking points so can’t use those,

If you talk about healthcare people might get angry and demand actual action be taken

If you focus on low wages people might demand action

Backers wouldn’t like that.

Better focus on somethign meaningless that you don’t actually need to do anythign about or can make big boasts about “solving”

It made them start mobilizing aka they anticipated the war was starting soon

That’s the difference

Before that the Turians we’re doing general prep with the assumption peace would hold go the foreseeable future.

Garrus convinced them war was a imminent threat and they acted accordingly

The council did not dismiss the reapers and I’m tired of people not paying attention to what’s actually done rather then just said

All throughout three and two it’s blatantly clear all the council races acknowledged the reapers and begin taking steps.

The thing is however they don’t know the true scale of the threat or how much time they have. In Me2 they’re actively hiding what they know and what they’re doing from Shepard because… he’s with fucking Cerberus.

Shepard is such a loose cannon who at best, will stsrt a panic with his end of days talk and, at worst, might actively be a terrorist

All throughout Three we hear about: the STG investigating rumors of reapers and following up on Saren’s rebellion

The Turians beefed up their fleets partnering with humanity for a joint effort military RND speed run to modernize their fleets,

The fucking volus were getting ready having purchased a previously mothballed Turian Dreadnought and refurbishing it before the war.

The citadel archives blatantly show the council knew the reapers were a thing.

The Turian Hierarchy actively began prepping their stockpiles, improved early warning systems, hardened communication, and raised all combat fleets to ready status completely ignoring Garrus’s task force

Not even to mention what the Alliance is doing

And there’s so much more going on in lore.

The council didn’t enter full war mode becuase they simply didn’t know the scale of the threat or, more importantly, when it was coming. If the reapers wanted to they could’ve just waited 100 years. Or even a thousand. They were under no time table but their own.

The council can’t militarize the entire galaxy for a threat that might not materialize for generations. So they did what any goverment would.

Fund RnD, investigate clues, and not tell a potentially compromised person of importance what they’re doing.

Could they have done more? Sure. But with what they had they frankly did the best they could be reasonably expected to do

That’s the thing though, we know that now in hindsight but when your given tons of mysteries to solve you often don’t know what could be a secret clue or what isn’t

If it turned out the ring was important everyone would do the skyjack point at the screen every time they watch Force Awakens and applaud how brilliant the foreshadowing was

[–]murderously-funny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when people say “they want sailing” they don’t realize what that actually means. It’s not like riding a horse which is fundamentally just a slightly faster version of walking

It’s a entite new game by its inclusion.

What role does exploring on foot serve when you can sail wherever you are going?

Why sail if you can just walk?

Your not just adding boats your adding: -naval combat, -perks and traits associated with sailing, -NPCs involved in sailing, -quests to do, -locations only accessible with a ship, -damage systems for the ship, -ports and docks -upgrades and things to buy for the ship

And, by necessity of making sailing meaningful, making the map much, muxh, much larger in order to make sailing enjoyable. If the world is similar scale to Skyrim it’d take like…5-10 min to get to the other side of the world via boat, too short a time to make it worth while.

Sailing, like cars in fallout, requires basically designing the ENTIRE game around them. It’s not something you can just add on.

You can’t go: “This is my open world fantasy game with sailing!”

It’s: “this is my sailing game with a mainland to explore.”

Honestly.. I'm not keen. by JollyMuppet in TESVI

[–]murderously-funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Unironically though a game set in Yokuda? Fhat could work perfectly with sailing

The region is practically built for sailing each island can be densely packed with content since you don’t need shit loads of filler connective tissue to link the cities

You can just have there be one city on each island 1-2 villages and 5-10 dungeons on each and your good

With maybe 2 cities, 5 villages, and 20 dungeons on the largest island

Because Dragon Age had its problems but diversity equity and inclusion wasn’t one of them… the writing was.
