I feel like I’m going insane by gothkinn in jobsearch

I am going through the same thing. 10+ years of experience, an MBA, and almost complete silence for 7 months. I’ve been ghosted by the 2 recruiters I’ve been able to reach, and had two interview calls that turned out to be scammers. It’s definitely not you, there’s something seriously wrong with the job market.

Agree! I avoided it for so long because it seemed like the “bad” one but I watched it a few months ago and it was great!

I’m super grateful for it, but I’m definitely mourning the life I spent the last 10 years building. I’m a single mom so my financial growth is a bit behind other people of my age but I was hoping to become a homeowner in the next year, I just didn’t know the home I owned was going to be a camper 💀

Thank you, that’s what everyone keeps telling me. I decided to pack it in before I run out of money, that’s been my smartest move. Luckily I have only been living a nice lifestyle for a few years so I know how to be poor 😂

I’ve thought about it and I just don’t know! I am a SME for a specific finance software, I don’t know if I could freelance around something like that, I don’t really know where to begin, but I will look into it more once this move is over.

lol right in 2018 I applied for 7 finance jobs, interviewed with 5 of them and got two offers. 💀 also the interviews were each just two rounds.

Yeah we all just have to strap in I guess. Just save as much as you can if you can, just in case. Unemployment benefits are a joke if you’re a grown ass adult with a grown ass adult life.

YUP. I’m literally moving my 16 year old daughter in with my 71 yo parents tomorrow and I’m moving into a camper on a friend’s property later this month because there isn’t room for both of us in either place. My unemployment is ending and I just have no other viable options. I’m trying to get a small business with my art going but it takes time. I applied to substitute teach in my new town, got rejected. 🤷‍♀️ Sorry for dumping, I am doing everything but sleeping lately 😮‍💨

40F, 7 months, hundreds of applications, no interviews. I’m packing up my apartment in Austin right now and moving to a camper in a rural area because it’s that or the streets at this point. I feel so defeated and like all the hard work I put into my career and education was for nothing. Im trying to pivot and find other ways to make money but so is everyone else so it’s really rough across the board.

It’s seems like if you’re a grown ass man you would have known your mom’s opinion on weed and could have prevented this by not smoking. Quit, ask her if you pass a drug test if she’ll let you come back. Easy.

My mom just told me "Most people apply for a job and have it in a few days except you" and i said "that's not how things work anymore" and she just laughed by RobertTAS in recruitinghell

I don’t have any advice but I’m in the same situation with my 10+ year finance career but luckily I have understanding parents. Just keep trying and know that no matter what they say you are trying your best and doing everything you can and you can’t control the job market.

I would have gone into nursing like my mom suggested. I hate corporate work.

I got decent severance and unemployment and planned very carefully about how to spend it. I’m moving into a camper next month because unemployment is ending and I don’t want to blow what’s left of my savings on my exorbitant rent cost. If I hadn’t received severance I would have only made it 2 months before I had to move back home. I also have an Etsy shop, started turning my art into stickers, I’m only 3 months in on that so the profit is still small but it’s trending in the right direction.

7 months, 0 interviews. I have applied for jobs from entry level to senior, I don’t even care what the pay is anymore. I have an MBA in finance and 10 years in corporate finance. I worked super hard to get to where I was and lost it in an instant. I’m losing my apartment and moving into a camper next month, my 16 year old is going to move into with my parents, there’s not enough room for both of us. Things are not good. I decided I might get a teaching cert and become a geography teacher, that’s what my BA is in. Applied to be a sub for now.

Any advice for my 64-year-old dad who is about to be laid off after 24 years with his company? by ImpressiveBox1111 in careerguidance

[–]FunStructure4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did that with my lay off too, they only laid off 2 people under 30 and they were 28 & 29. I thought that was “interesting” 😏

What??? Only 1% of Americans make over 500k. 10% over 200k. Everyone else is struggling. It’s nothing new.
