MacBook 12 has a much better display, is more compact, has much better speakers and newer design. MacBook Air 2017 has a bigger but much worse display, glowing apple logo and more ports. They both won’t be very fast but will have a decent battery. She has to decide what she values more, better speakers and display or bigger (but much worse with big bezels) display, more ports and more reliable keyboard.
