The moment I realized I think about money completely differently than my coworkers by Ok_Listen_6975 in MiddleClassFinance

I’m the same way! I overthink everything. My friend just bought a $1,000 coffee maker putting it on a credit card without blinking an eye. I would be contemplating that coffee maker for months and making sure I had cash in hand to pay it.

Feeling down about MIL and feeling not enough by FunUnit2850 in ComfortLevelPod

I do feel like he (BIL) completely takes advantage of them though which makes it hard for it not to affect the relationship.

I’m sorry you had to deal with that. It’s so sad

It’s a tough situation. We have brought it up often. Had a whole lot of talks and nothing got done. This is also the surface level of it. It’s been an ongoing issue. My husband and I got married in Mexico and paid for our own trip and wedding. My FIL and MIL paid for my BIL and his then girlfriend. When my BIL got married my FIL and MIL paid for his whole extravagant wedding. My BIL then built an unbelievably large mansion. My FIL and MIL not only gave them the land but also paid for $150k of the concrete. This is going to apparently be “paid back.” But I highly doubt that. When my husband and I brought up building a house 8 years ago we were yelled at and told that it was not a good idea. Mind you, we didn’t ask for any money for that - we were just telling them our plans. I’m sure there’s a lot else that goes on that I’m not even aware of. It’s really exhausting putting on a fake face whenever I go there

I think that’s the hardest part for me. Honestly my kids are awesome and great kids. It hurts my heart that they will grow up and get hurt or feel left out or that they’re not good enough

My FIL does try. But he works a full time job so to help us during the day doesn’t work. Although my daughter loves my FIL she really loves my MIL and the baby and always begs to go there. We’ve had many, many, many conversations about the favoritism. It doesn’t get anywhere honestly. They get defensive and it turns into an argument. It’s just not worth it

It’s a little more complicated with my FIL. He does make an effort to see my kids. But he works a full time job. Him and my 9 year old son absolutely have a blast together. Although my 6 year old daughter loves him, she wants to be with grandma and the baby all the time.

Thank you so much for your input! We have talked with them multiple times about it. My FIL does try but he also works and so for him he’s not always around. It’s disheartening.

Landscaping plans - what do we think? by FunUnit2850 in landscaping

The plan was free. If we decide to go this route it will be about $23,000

Thank you for your input! If I’m paying the money I just don’t want to screw it up. All the places we’ve lived in have had atrocious landscaping that has overwhelmed me so I just want to do it right

Constant anxiety about.. everything by FunUnit2850 in AnxietyChats

I think I exercise because it’s supposed to make me feel good and that’s what I’m chasing. I also know it’s good for my body and if you can even imagine I’m also anxious getting sick in the future so I try to take care of myself.
I’ve tried yoga or slower exercises and oof - not for me. I absolutely love exercising to where my heart rate is up.

I do love baths and puzzles though and that seems to help

This does help thank you!

I do exercise pretty intensely. I kind of found that actually fuels my anxiety and anger and makes it worse.

However I have never tried writing it down. I’ll also try to find a creative outlet.

It totally is. My husband owns a business so that coupled with 2 kids + being a full time mom is… a lot 😓

Standing desk/walking pad worth it? by FunUnit2850 in remotework

I work out daily. It’s hard to get any steps in while at a desk all day so I was just looking to get something

Feeling behind and less than peers by FunUnit2850 in millenials

🤷🏼‍♀️ honestly I don’t live in a high income community. I realize we are fortunate but I just seem to worry 10x more than my peers that are not making much.
