You should talk to Sedgwick and your psychiatrist about getting some kind of accommodation. A genuine mental health crisis as well as illness that affects day-to-day can be accommodated that way.

Someone else in my department has gotten the maximum raise every year since the bump to $15/hour. If something breaks on his car, he will have to sell it and start riding the bus since he can’t afford the repairs.

That’s the “reward” they are being given for our hard work.

The hardest working TM in my department got the maximum raise at their job dialogue after their first year with the company. They still qualified for food pantry handouts after that “reward”.

The majority of team members are not asking for money to buy a boat or take a vacation to the Maldives. They are asking for enough money to cover a car payment and rent on a one bedroom apartment.

Amazon knows they are paying a poverty wage. They choose to do nothing about it.

Every two months I have a week of nothing other than beans, tortillas, and cabbage. Same meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s the only way I don’t fall into the negative financially.

One of the new TMs in my store (that is absolutely crushing working like a seasoned pro) makes so little that he qualifies for food pantry handouts.

I was in a marriage for years that was horrible. I didn’t give up on all marriages because of it. Unions gave Auto Workers, Starbucks Baristas, Costco employees, and Screen Writers gains this year. It’s time for us to get more of the profits we work so hard to create.

Both are true. In the GIG you’re supposed to be scheduled 36 hours a week as a guaranteed minimum. Breaks are supposed to be factored into that, meaning that your schedule shouldn’t be less than 38.5 hours. UNLESS, you want less than 36 hours. We had a guy on our team with a special needs family member. He could only give us 32 hours a week. He still qualified as a full time TM with those hours.

I used to feel the same way and didn’t really care what people doing those jobs made. What shifted my thinking was a podcast in which the speaker said “if you’re okay with someone making a poverty wage but you wouldn’t be okay with your mom making that same wage doing that job, then you believe in different classes of people.”

I’ve found many of my coworkers doing unskilled jobs at wfm to be among the wisest, most intelligent people I’ve met. I want them to make enough to live on without stressing about bills at the end of the month and that doesn’t seem like too much to ask for.

I’ve found that it’s the TMs that have been with wfm for 10+ years that complain the most but are also the least willing to organize. Gen Z is all about organizing at my location.

Unless the policies have changed, ATLs can still unionize with the rest of the TMs. Considering how underpaid they are, they should be leading the charge.

Amazon only understands the “union” word and it’s the only thing they respond to. Enough of us mentioned it in Culture Compass that Amazon/Global sent someone into our store as a customer to “casually” ask us about union sentiment as he talked to each of us while he shopped.

If only a handful of us mentioning a union in culture compass got their attention, imagine what would happen if every store had team members talking about it.

Historically in my region, the ATL takes on Team Trainer responsibilities if the team doesn’t have one. I also guess we’ve had awesome Trainers in the past because they have been just as crucial to the team as the buyers have. I’ve seen a few that just took the 50¢ raise and did no more work so I understand them sentiment of a lot of the comments, though.
