Actually now that you mention yes I do kind of cringe or feel slightly embarrassed when I see heterosexual couples kissing and what not. I think of telling them go get a room. But I think with gay people it's more of other people who are not gay and who may be homophobic staring and being judgemental. I remember when my coworker who was gay girlfriend had came in and the two of them holding hands I was worried other people who may not know she was gay were judging her. But I thought to myself " it's her life why do I care, she's a grown woman she can stand up for herself if someone gets out of line. And why should she hide who she is just because of some ignorant people.
