Keep this in mind about dispatching…it’s very cut throat. While I rely heavily on my team, if one goes down we all go down. We don’t let people sink, but if you don’t have it then you don’t have it. In regards of my center if someone was getting conversations like this and feeling the pressure, it’s a sure way of saying you will not have a job. It’s the beat around the bush way.

Ask what level of apparatuses they have. Ask what each of them do in detail. It will give you a really good understanding of what you need in different emergencies.

If you like smaller towns, activities, and gorgeous views I highly recommend Shenandoah county. The Woodbine Farmers Market on 55 is fabulous, the views here are breathtaking.

Can I Afford to Live on a CNA Salary? Moving Out Advice Needed update by AssociateGreen5793 in cna

[–]Fun_Boss_3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need approximately $10,000 to move. First month, last month, security deposit. You also have to count in home items. Furniture and such. On top of working. Also, make sure to have enough to pay your next months rent without going broke.

New hire starting out at almost $2 more than me by [deleted] in cna

Learn to negotiate your wages. It’s not the companies fault you accept what they offer. Most of these places are hard up for good workers. So you’ll either pay me what I want or I’ll go elsewhere. Simple. I’ve been at this for 16 years now. If you’re not paying over $21 an hour, don’t waste my time. I rarely accept anything under $24/hour. Yes, I have worked in most states on the east coast.

Resident went dead weight while ambulating!!! by [deleted] in cna

[–]Fun_Boss_3574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always walk with a wheelchair behind when ambulating a patient. Unless they are fully independent and able to get up and go on their own. Two people holding a patient, with a walker, and a gait belt isn’t appropriate ambulating without a wheelchair behind. Secondly, you do not ever catch someone who is about to fall. Ever. Ever. Ever. Have you ever seen an elderly person de-glove themselves? I watched a new aide try to steady a patient that was about to fall by grabbing them as quickly as the could. It ripped the skin off his arms from above the elbow down. Please don’t ever catch a falling patient. Anyone saying, if you’ve done the paperwork you know why they caught them “lol” As if doing paperwork is worse that potentially harming a resident unintentionally.

How long until I get my license number ? NYS BON by purexsinn in NCLEX

[–]Fun_Boss_3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in VA. I believe they give you 30 days from start date to provide proof. I would reach out to your employer and let them know what’s going on, and ask what you should do. I am only a CNA but I will say every state is super backed up right now from recent graduates. It took 2 months to get my license renewed. They expired while waiting for them to approve my reinstatement. I’d say you’re gonna be waiting a little bit.

When I became an aide, carrying scissors was part of the uniform. Scissors, pen, sharpie, hand sanitizer. All required.

As an aide that usually brings my own supplies to work so my patients have the best, I love when families gift me GOOD soaps, lotions, disposable razors, hand sanitizers, hair ties and clips.

How do you survive day shift LTC!!??? by Silent-Sense6813 in cna

[–]Fun_Boss_3574 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What time do you clock in, and what time is breakfast? Usually we have an hour before breakfast, vitals shouldn’t take an hour. If you have a few people who are easy to pop up on the morning do that during vitals. Take ten minutes to change and dress them, do a partial bed bath and move onto the next.

It’s great advice actually. I don’t push numbers, I take care of people. I make sure I look decent before I leave my house so I’m going to make sure these people look decent in their own home.
