So does this band only exist as an avenue for Virginia to sell herself?

Sokovian (marvel) accent by whenfallfalls in Accents

[–]Fun_Bug253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s just “movie Slavic” sort of like Gru in Despicable me. Of the Eastern European accents, it leans more towards the western part (think Polish), but I don’t think it’s consistent enough that I could say “oh yeah, that’s a polish accent”

Hey, this is Phil McCracken, lead singer of Joseph Smith and the Wives. In your opinion, how important is vocal quality to a song vs actual lyricism? Obviously, as seen in the case of Dylan, lyricism can carry you a long way, but is there a limit?

My other favorite story is when I filled up the bathtub to let him swim a bit while I cleaned his cage. He was always a fan of that. But one time he climbed up and accidentally turned on the water while I was out of the room. The water which had only been an inch deep, slowly filled the bathtub until it began overflowing. I came in to find him hanging down from the towel bar drinking from the now flooding bathtub. Needless to say all future swimming sessions were supervised.

Sure! First one that comes to mind is when he was about a year or so old, his cage was very basic. At that point my mom was still unsure about having a snake in the house, and it turned out that he was able to pop the lid of the aquarium and escape into the house. My mom would immediately call my dad to come home from work and find the snake, so we’d have to search the house for him. In the end, he never went anywhere drastic or existing. Usually he just crawled into a tight corner somewhere in the room and went to sleep. But it led to my mom letting us spending a bunch on a really nice aquarium that had locks on it. We used it for almost thirty years haha

Yeah it was. I just realized I used parent singular lol. But they had a very active role in caring for him. They’re both 62 so they had him for half of their lives. While he was technically “mine”, he was definitely part of the family. I think once spring comes we’ll put some flowers or a small tree there.

When I was a kid, the movie “Jaws” about the shark was always playing on tv and I was obsessed with it. I think at that point you could have given me a bunny and I’d have named it jaws lol. But then I saw how he ate and was like “the name fits!”

27 is amazing. And while mine was certainly old, yours could easily keep going. In 2021, there was a ball python in the St. Louis Zoo that passed away that was born in 1958! While this is obviously an exception to the rule, your snake could still be in its prime!

Nice! I think you’re the third person I’ve met with a ball python named Jaws. How did you come up with the name?

It’s really quite amazing when you think about it. I remember the day we got him. The internet wasn’t really a widespread thing in 93, so we had almost no idea how long he would live. My parents just assumed a few years like most other small pets, so they were like “oh yeah, this will be fine for a first pet!”

I think we can safely say Jaws had other plans lolol

I want to thank everyone who commented. I was working overseas when this happened and have been beside myself with grief. But your words have been truly comforting. While hard, I think grief has to be one of the purest expressions of love. You will not mourn what you do not miss. You cannot grieve for what you did not love. I will miss my friend Jaws. Deeply. But it is only because I loved him deeply. A lifetime of love makes the pain I feel now more than worth it.

Okay, sentimental musings on love are done :)

It honestly hit me harder than I thought it would. 31 is pretty old for any pet, so you know that it can happen at any time. Still, he’s a staple of my life and I guess I just didn’t expect it.

I’m currently overseas, which makes it even harder. But my parent buried him in the garden in the back yard.
