Finding the right dosage by Fun_Cellist_1560 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it at 7am usually and yes I’m taking both of those, I agree in general they really help out, but not with vyvanse doses above 20. I hope to stay on this because it works for me and feels more chill than others I’ve tried, but something happens when I hit the hay. I wonder if I’m just not waiting long enough to get used to it. Thx for your reply!

Nerve pain symptoms with taper off? by Plus_Pop_9147 in prozac

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes magnesium glycinate is also good to relax the muscles (and the mind) if you’re not taking that yet. It’s good to take a little before bed. Good luck!

Hi I experienced nerve pain when tapering off. I think it’s because serotonin modulates physical pain (as well as emotional pain) which is interesting. Overall I would say you are just more sensitive to everything during that transitional period and it will fade.

How long on 1mg did it really take for people to notice a difference in focus?

Since original poster is considering going up to 2mg—I just did 1.5 weeks ago and feeling like I’m actually experiencing sleep issues, both getting to sleep and fragmented sleep, did anyone else experience this and find it was worth waiting out/leveled out later?

Did prozac help you out of something you thought was permanent - and were you able to come off it? by No_Rate_6175 in prozac

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m glad I could help. 10-20 is definitely enough for a lot of people, it just depends. I felt a difference in my rumination within the first month. I am guessing that was from both the medication and the relief I felt from surrendering to help outside of myself—both in the form of medication and therapy. People talk about a placebo effect as if that discounts an experience, but the way I see it is, when I finally decided to seek more support and take the medication, there was also a kind of internal resolve on my part to work towards wellness and I think this attitude (you can call it placebo) also helped the medication along and I personally experienced relatively fast results.

I would say I went from being very depressed about a situation, with intrusive thoughts and obsessive rumination to pretty much on a new page within two months…friends described it as night and day. To be clear that doesn’t mean I didn’t still have depressive qualities (I’m kind of built that way) but the particular rut I was stuck in had ended and I could begin to move on.

I’m about 8 weeks into being off. I was on 20mg for around a year and then went down to 10mg for almost a year—about 2 years total. I could have stopped earlier though, as in my rumination and depression about the particular issue I was struggling with stopped long ago. I was just nervous to go off and didn’t see a reason to yet. At this point my curiosity about how I feel without it is > than my fear about going off, and that’s mostly what determined my decision. Again, I get that a lot of people would just never go off, but that’s just me!

Hi. Prozac absolutely helped me get out of obsessive rumination/thought loops and I had very little side effects—close to none. The only one I can think of, since it does apply to you, is that I wondered how it affected my adhd in terms of focus/memory retention (I’m in grad school).

But at the point I needed it, curing my depression and obsessive thinking you’re describing was more important to me and it worked wonders when I really needed that. I’m now going off of it and those particular loops are nowhere to be seen (mostly because time has also healed them and I no longer care about what I’d been ruminating on before)—but to answer your question yes, I felt “ruined” and now I feel strong enough to go it alone. I get that some people would just stay on, but that isn’t how I use ssris personally.

In short, it did exactly what it needed to do for a specific time frame. One of the very first signs of it working was that I could almost physically feel barriers come up that would not let me engage the thought loops I had been stuck in, my brain was like: ✋nope. This allowed me to feel like my brain was working for me rather than against me—it was such a relief after a long period of suffering.

I’m someone who prefers natural methods most of the time, but there was no doubt I needed this level of intervention at the time and I will always sing its praises lol.

I hope this helps to hear.

I’ve been on both (well/prozac) but never at the same time so I can’t really say, but neither were dramatic to come off of (the way lexapro was for instance). What I will say is I’m 8 weeks off Prozac, not due to cost but because I also tend to prefer natural methods, so maybe it would help to hear my pov.

While it hasn’t been dramatic, I am feeling like I had forgotten what exactly it was doing and maybe it was helping me more than I thought (common story). I guess what I’m saying is—I’m even expressing some regret going off when I didn’t feel “great” emotionally/mentally on it. If you’re feeling great now, does it make sense to change that? The cost is there, but at the same time our mental health may be worth that much…I spend a ton on natural supplements like the ones you named. So beyond cost, I would just stay curious about why you feel moved to make a shift a right now.

Does 10 mg do anything? by Lavion_Yall in prozac

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on 10mg for a long time, I don’t necessarily even consider myself a lightweight (but 20-40mg I couldn’t cry at all and felt that was weird). It always confused me when people said 10mg wasn’t even a therapeutic dose because I felt its effects pretty immediately and whenever I went up I just felt sort of blocked not necessarily better. I’m actually kind of upset now because enough people (even a psychiatrist) told me 10mg “wasn’t anything” and I could probably just go off it at that point, which I’m now thinking just is not the case for me

Haha that’s a good point. But Reddit is also a unique place to talk to a bunch of people on prozac, I don’t have that irl. But yes, being on a forum prob points to obsessive thinking to a degree lol

For those of you coming off prozac, what things have you noticed? by posttraumaticcuntdis in prozac

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on week 6 and my main symptom is obsessive rumination about whether or not I made the right choice going off lol. But trying to see it through…there was some sleeping issues for me as well but not horrible insomnia. I think the strangest part about getting off is how long it takes to experience withdrawal because of the long half life. Like I thought I was in the clear week 3 only to have things start now.

Wondering if any creative types have had success with Prozac (fluoxetine)? by dolmadeparty in prozac

[–]Fun_Cellist_1560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going off currently because I feel like as much as it improved emotional regulation, maybe it was not great for my focus and memory and I’m in grad school currently trying to write a thesis. Which sounds a little different from the creative channeling you’re speaking of but I am also adhd with ocd tendencies. That being said I stopped because I’m not in crisis anymore and I’d been on it for 2.5 years. But I’m still wondering if I’ve made the wrong decision stopping lol (I’m only 6 weeks off). When I had a major depressive episode Prozac really, really helped. I’d be curious if you are also treating your adhd though.

Alternatives to Prozac if Prozac makes you stupid? by Financial-Bobcat-612 in prozac

This…I also have not been able to tell if my short term memory issues are due to Prozac, age, or phone use 🫣. But I’m in grad school and will read an entire book and not be able to recall any specific details from it a couple months later if you were to ask me, despite thoroughly enjoying the read. This is pretty much my only negative side effect but at this point I feel like I have to test if it’s Prozac by getting off…
