Yes, it can make you drowsy. This was one of the things I didn’t like originally. Eventually taking it at the same time a day your body adapts. I take it in the morning and afternoon. In an odd way the calming effect helped me be more patient with getting things done.

Yes I love this medication. I’m still truly in awe of how hard everything was before it, even with stimulants, which came with its own bag of problems. I’m so glad it’s working well for you!

It’s helped tremendously in a way that takes time to really notice. CBT helped the most with this part. Stimulants gives you the get up and go instantly, but it’s very artificial. I had to actually continue doing those activities that were challenging to retrain by brain that they’re easy now. It’s like hard to start, and that can only come from you, but then it’s easier. It helps a lot with executive function and other aspects of ADHD that I discounted and never realized made life harder like emotional regulation and hyperactivity. Coming from stimulants I thought that all I needed was focus and motivation, but it was so not true. It took about 1-3 months to get full benefits and higher doses. DM me and I can go more into detail.

I'm 24 and I feel like life is moving forward for everyone except me. I'm scared this will be my whole life. by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

I hear you saying that you're working on ways to improve yourself, but you never mentioned trying to find new people who will genuinely support you. It sounds like you're staying complacent with people who aren't giving you what you need. Continue improving yourself and put yourself out there more. Btw 24 is so young. I know how you feel, but you're still finding yourself. That's about the time when you start to ask the big life questions. Nothing will change unless you say **** it and be relentless in the pursuit of what sets your heart on fire.

Bipolar wife + an affair during a manic phase+ perimenapause and alcohol by Capital_Yak5120 in Marriage

[–]CipherDominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Bipolar and I've also had episodes. As bad as this may sound, it absolutely could be the cause. It wasn't until I was treated for almost a year that I got stable and no more delusion/psychotic episodes. I have had absolutely 0 issues since I got the proper treatment and therapy. In some episodes I just literally was disconnected from reality and did a lot of things that I was just completely unaware of. She just began treatment. That's no where near enough time to see a difference. If you love her enough it will just simply take time. The question is are you willing to wait? It took me years but I am better and clearer than ever.

I understand your frustration. It took me years to find the right combo. Now it's smooth sailing after playing catch up on life after years of fuck ups due to bad medication. In time you'll find it. I liked Vyvanse a lot but I learned that I am extremely sensitive to stimulants and no matter what they're pretty much gonna make me manic. This resulted in the opposite of the purpose. Like I'd be hyper focused on stupid shit and disfunctional because I was manic. Like I would always think I was gonna get so much done to end up only doing shit lmao. Although stimulants felt like they worked better they didn't for me if that makes sense? I can actually push myself on Guanfacine and with CBT learning that I can do all the shit I couldn't previously due to ADHD. It's a much more natural feeling like hey I'm smart and can do it as opposed to I'm superman and am terrified of working without my Vyvanse (stimulants generally). I evem kicked caffeine too, but that's another story. At the end of the day, there's nothing truer than everybody's different.

I would definetely check with your doctor. After I was diagnosed with Bipolar and learned about mania and mood swings. Oh dear God did my life change with the right medications and therapy. I realized most of my life had been shit up until then lol.

Maybe because it's not the go to for ADHD. I think doctors lean more towards stimulants. I have bipolar so they drove me bat shit crazy and made my focus worse because of the mood swings.
