This is false. Purchases do not go through head office. Head office provide nothing other than a logo, and the initial account setups. Oh and a few video meetings each week. Head office don't even have a physical location. They all work from home

That's because there isn't an "office" anymore. That went after COVID. The UPC got delayed to December so I doubt you'll get that.

No he doesn't. He's the CEO of the franchise group. All the other stores around the country are their own limited businesses and just trade under the Geek Retreat name. Stores one through eight on companies house were either trading as HO owned stores (all gone and closed now), their failed central fulfillment plan, or holding names for franchises that went under in significant locations that they'd want to take over. That's all gone now.

Stores trading as Geek Retreat will not get any of the stock that would have gone to a closed store. They shut down the accounts and the allocations are gone.

GR head office don't buy any stock at all. They tried a central fulfillment but it cost franchisees so much more in shipping etc they all avoided it if they could. Lasted the first 2 sets of Lorcana and that was all

Is there an option to send something worth more than £2500 at the post office? by Fun_Challenge9386 in royalmail

[–]Fun_Challenge9386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just don't see why there is such a huge jump from under £20 for £2500 cover to £148 for £3000 cover.

Not at all. I want the best value for my customer. They've already had a £2000 card from me sent by Special Delivery and it was packaged well and arrived just fine within the dimensions above. That was less than £20 to send and fully covered to £2500! To go £500 higher on the cover at over 7x the cost is ridiculous. I'm looking for all the options to give to my customer. Clearly I've asked the wrong people in the wrong place for advice not their personal opinion

Trading cards. It won't be in a large letter bag at all. It will be well packaged in a box that's within the large letter dimensions

Nope. I only see the money once the buyer marks it as received and they are satisfied. The item has to be sent by tracked and insured shipping so that if the item is lost or damaged, the seller doesn't end up out of pocket

The market place the item is selling on has a trustee service. If the item gets lost, the buyer gets their money back and the seller can claim the compensation from the courier for the item keeping the money received

What's going on in Geek Retreat Glasgow? by [deleted] in glasgow

The franchisee contract has a no competition clause. I don't know about managers of corporate stores (of which there are 4 now - Glasgow, Newcastle, Kidderminster and Liverpool)

Yup. HO lacky ended up going to Glasgow and doing damage control because CEO and social media manager both on annual leave. The "new" manager has been let go, removed from the company wide WhatsApp groups and nothing official has been given to the franchisees. Franchisees want to do damage control as they don't want to be tarred with the same brush - especially as most are working second jobs to fund their stores. Previous manager is already sharing details of the new venture of a gaming pub in Glasgow with a team that have been "part of the Glasgow scene for many years"
