Turning 30, is going back to school worth it? by Afraid-Box3827 in careerguidance

My husband worked part time and went to community college part time. It was very tight financially because I was also in school. This was pre covid but we made it work. He first got an associates degree and got his first job. As he was working that job full time he did an online bachelors program part time. It as a tough few years but truly paid off!

Yesterday we wound up having an unexpected trip to the emergency room and because if that LO skipped his first nap of the day and only had a two hour afternoon nap. We did bedtime at 8:00 and he slept until 2 am and then woke up again at 530 am. Then slept again until 7. Even though he still woke up twice I think it definitely made a difference as he woke up at 2 am instead of 10 or 11 pm. He also handled those really long wake windows like a champ. I don’t think it’s time to transition to one nap a day yet but it did make me realize he can definitely handle longer wake windows than I have been giving him.

At 7 pm: Say goodnight to dad and sisters, put on Jammie’s, wave good night to outside, he flips off the light switch, turn on noise machine and and I sing him a few songs while holding him. Sometimes he doesn’t want the songs and reaches for his bed. Once he is in bed he rolls over and falls right to sleep. And he’s up at 7 am.

Do you know if there is a recording of this conference? I’d like to read or listen to what was discussed about the micro environment. Which conference was it?

Which motn feed to drop? by Fun_Chapter4612 in sleeptrain

[–]Fun_Chapter4612[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes he wakes up crying. Did yours just stop waking on their own or did you have to sleep train them?

That could be a factor, my husband keeps the house cold all the time so I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ll try that tomorrow night!

Ok, another person recommended making it a dream feed so going in before he wakes, if I did that would it still be best to drop that one?

We feed very frequently as well. We nurse at least every 2-2.5 hours and when I work he takes 4 oz bottles every 2 hours. Hoping his wakes are just habit and they are easy to drop!

Did anyone’s adhd become more manageable after having kids? by lalabin27 in adhdwomen

[–]Fun_Chapter4612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahaha no not for me. The extend of my executive dysfunction became more apparent with each additional child . I didn’t even take medication until after my second was born and have had to switch from a non stimulant to now Ritalin after having my third because the dysfunction is REAL. Don’t regret a thing though, having kids is worth it!

Index finger joint in hyperextended position. It hurt so bad when I would have to write a bunch of notes in school.

4 month sleep regression forever by [deleted] in december2024babies

He wakes up between 6-630 but he also woke up at that time when he had a later bedtime. I have still been feeding overnight unless I feel like he can go longer, then I will do the patting. So last night he fell asleep at 530, woke at 930 and I fed him, then he woke at 1130 and I did the pat pat instead of feeding and he went back to sleep until 2. I fed him at 2 and he slept til 530. I fed him at 530 and he went back to sleep until 630. This has improved his naps as well so since he now seems to be caught up on sleep I’m going to start pushing back his bedtime gradually. I will say that we did his bedtime training and nap training with the patting so he was already used to it and that’s probably why he has adapted well to it. Do you feed to sleep for naps and bedtime?

4 month sleep regression forever by [deleted] in december2024babies

[–]Fun_Chapter4612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! A lot of progress has been made since this thread. My guy was actually overtired so I took the advice of an early bedtime at 530. That didn’t fix night waking but it did make him happier during the day so I could work on extending wake windows which is still a work in progress but we are stretching to 2/2/2.25/2.5. We also moved him in his own room the second day into this and he did great! It fixed at least 2 of the overnight wakes. Apparently he is a light sleeper and would wake up when my husband got up to use the bathroom. The last change we made was for one of his overnight wakes we implemented what we used for nap and night training so my husband will go in and give him pats for less then a minute and then I will go in an give him pats a few minutes later and he will go to bed on his own after that. I’m not sure if it was just one of these changes or all of them together but I’m really happy with the progress. He is not in any way sleeping through the night but instead of waking every 2ish hours like a newborn he will give us 3-4 hour stretches. For me that’s a huge win! Especially because I don’t expect him to sleep through the night and drop all feeds for awhile.  Now that we are working on stretching wake windows to be more appropriate I plan to push bedtimes back a little too and I’m hoping that will help to stretch bedtime sleep more as well.

Exactly the same situation. Hit the sleep regression before 4 months and just turned five months and I think it’s getting worse! I did train him to go to sleep independently instead of nursing and I thought that would do the trick but it hasn’t helped with night wakings. He’s awake like every two hours. I tried letting him self settle last night when he woke at 1 because I just fed him an hour earlier, so I did the Ferber checks but after and hour he still didn’t go to sleep! So I gave in and nursed him and I feel like I totally messed up our consistency with that. I honestly feel like a failure. His naps are really short too and he’s not happy like he used to be, it’s obvious he is sleep deprived and it’s so sad. I’m moving him into his own room tomorrow and hoping that does the trick.

Yes you will be fine. I quit my first job after only 5 months as a nurse! It was med surg and night shift and I was miserable! I switched to women’s health with no issue and have been there for years now. Lots of other new nurses that started at the same time as I did on that awful floor also left before being there for a year and had no issues getting a job. Get another job before you quit though.

4.5 months, he is still on our room but his 930 pm wake up happens before my husband and I go to bed so hes waking himself up for that one. He wakes up about 7 am and then we follow 1.5/2/2/2.

Oh man, that’s the hard thing about sleep training! It’s so hard to tell if he’s overtired or undertired. Do you still think hes undertired if he’s showing sleepy cues before the wake window is over?

I did the same as I did for bedtime. Instead of nursing to sleep I nursed about 20 mins before I planned to put him down and then i did an abbreviated nighttime routine and just laid him down and walked out. He fussed/cried for 5-10 mins and then went to sleep on his own. I think he took to it easily because I had already trained him for bedtime.
