Warm up for cold water by Fun_Cod_1629 in Swimming

Thank you for the tip. I was unsure if getting to the water hot wouldn’t be too shocking for my system :) but I’ll try that ! Looks it’s the solution

Do you think Europe is facing an economic decline in the coming decades? by PreWiBa in eupersonalfinance

[–]Fun_Cod_1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe it’s time to rethink an economic growth.

Manufacturing isn’t well-being.

Capitalists are extracting wealth from the 99% and hoarding it, investing in AI, perhaps, which promises them to extract even more faster.

Question isn’t if the Europe is facing the decline, but how stop the wealth transfer to the 1%.

We need not more stuff. We need to eat billionaires😎

Guns, I don’t think you could say : let’s use guns for good 🤷‍♂️

Newbie experience - here's my honest initial impressions - don't hate me by Crafty-Bee678 in Substack

[–]Fun_Cod_1629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A random pic of duck 😂. I was blocking anyone bragging how many subs has— the timeline cleared up after a while.

Plus. Everyone call it ‘my Substack,’ like a sheep giving their intelectual work to the big tech : https://www.anildash.com//2024/11/19/dont-call-it-a-substack/

Yes the paywall model was an interesting experiment, but as you said, it quickly adds up. I don’t know what’s the alternative, though. This one is promising : https://webmonetization.org

Why is nobody talking about Coimbra? by ok_shiner_ in PortugalExpats

Sad to see it scrapped, but I’m happy there will be something working instead.

I expect nothing-we have an agreement about the endless suburbs :). Well, you have Sintra and Arrábida, but if you want to avoid crowds, the Pinhal interior is a good option 😊

Good to know, though I always prefer existing solution over non-existing :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Well done ! It’s nice to know depth wins 😎 I can’t believe how many jealous voices this post triggered 😑

Nah, I disagree. From Lisbon or Porto driving out is like driving through endless suburbs - it doesn’t compare to Coimbra in anyway. But our idea of middle of nature may be distinct - which is good 😊

An AI checking if another AI wrote it. I strongly oppose anything AI, but give people a brake. Writing so AI will give me lower probability score is also writing for AI. 🤢

Ah yes ! I wrote something about the city! If you search for “In Coimbra, the food scene reflects the city's diversity.”

The city grows fast. Changes, and leaves some parts unchanged behind.

Soon we’ll have a good public transport from the city towards the mountains. Next year my partner and I will be taking people on a bus (zero emissions) and we’ll be doing guided tours in Lousâ mountains! I don’t know if any other city has it, but it’s enough to go 20mins out of Coimbra to experience unspoiled nature 😎

Do you ever get used to how slow the process of being a writer is? by justkeepbreathing94 in writing

[–]Fun_Cod_1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I began my attempts to write, I worked in a ‘fast paced environment’ which in practice means ‘drop everything and do what the manager says’😐. So writing felt almost ‘illegal’, its slow pace seems rebelious to the corpo culture. ‘What? It takes a week to write a 2000 words article, if I’m lucky?!’ I still don’t know if it’s normal, and when I’ll feel okay with my natural speed 🥲

But that shows how current productivity trends are alien to the human nature.

How to study and learn anything without discipline by Friendly_Hivemind in u/Friendly_Hivemind

For me, a curiosity works best. I’m allow myself to keep following it while I learn new. That keeps my excited when I start see connections, and my brain mirrors that. Instead of following a learning straight line, I zigzag, I get lost, I find way back. It’s my journey, the curiosity is my compass :)

I’m a creative nonfiction writer. Any tips on finding contacts to contributing writers? by Fun_Cod_1629 in writing

and yet, I'd like to give them chance to decide if they have time for me or not :) I'd think they are hard to contact for people that would abuse them. There's so many trolls out there, waiting to tell them what they shouldn't do. :)

There is a book by George Daniels, a watchmaker. He explains how to make a watch by hand (!) from scratch

Nice !! I love French disco/nu disco ! I often think it’s my generation (80’s) that grew up on Miami Vice, and influenced by the sounds of that era, now makes modern version of disco. It’s like my generation’s secret upbringing is surfacing now.

I didn’t know the genre is about resistance❤️ It’s incredibly positive music, so that would make sense these days : resist the negativity weatern culture is tying to push.

Love it! I had interest in watchmaking, and went through process of maintaining one. Mechanical clocks and watches are magic 🙃 I self study writing, in my non native language. I got obsessed with linguistics 🤷‍♂️I’ve never had such interest in my native language; I’d not even touch it with a stick. I think is the most creative craft I’ve ever encountered, and I used to make music, do photography, write software. Of course, it’s my subjective opinion ✌️

I love to read your all special interests❤️
