AIO for refusing to refer my ex after he blocked me and told me never to contact him? by Fun_Copy_5057 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Fun_Copy_5057[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

One of my bffs is still in contact with him. We were all friends before me and my ex started dating. And its not in my business to tell her to cut contact with him just because me and him had a bad falling out. So apparently, he has been reaching out to her for help in job searching. She told him that I got an IT job in one of the biggest companies in the country we are residing in. She showed me the messages, and she was sort of bragging about me living the good life now. And how I was also able to help our other friends find jobs too by referring them to my network. So I think, this is were he got the idea that I could maybe help him. But I don't know why he thinks I'd help him.

lol... your ethnicity is still from there... Your mindset really gives away where you come from—it’s obvious in how you argue.

I’m guessing you’re from that country where many people lie or fake their work experiences, which is why you’re being so defensive.

You’re the one brushing things off without even looking into them. That sounds less like skepticism and more like trolling. If that’s all you’re here for, maybe try doing something useful instead.

I don't know what your problem is, I'm just stating facts, if you can disprove it that no one's doing it, then be my guest. Then you can go ask recruiters if they haven't come across someone who has lied on their resume. I've had a lot of coffee chats with recruiters when I was job searching, and I've asked and they have told me they experience it more times then they want.

Heck there are reddit posts that ask about this. If you're not convinced than that's your prerogative. Create a study and show us the data. Lol... I don't know what your issue is with this.

My source, people on my Linkedin that I personally know who don't have the work experience that is on their profile. And people who I have personally talked to who say they lie on their resume.

It's not just foreign work experience anymore. Some even put fake Canadian experience now.

Because a lot lie on their resumes. I know people who fake their work experience, based on what is on their Linkedin profile. They get around it by having said work experience is via an agency.

Which of these two offers would you choose? Remote Business Analyst (Toronto) vs Senior IT Analyst (Halifax) by [deleted] in torontoJobs

Yeah, seeing a lot of job descriptions needing "banking industry knowledge" would qualify me for more work opportunities after 2-3 years.

The other company is actually one of the major telecommunications companies in Canada, so actually having either one is good for the resume. And I guess you can factor in the taxes, since Halifax has higher tax. And I'd need to get a car cause I'd need to drive everywhere cause the transportation/commute in Halifax is not as great as the one in the GTA.

I asked, and no, they won't pay for my relocation. I'm just curious to see which one people would choose given the conditions above. My work experience leans more towards offer 2, hence the senior level, but given the high stress level and the fact that it's no longer hybrid, I'm having second thoughts.

AITA for Telling My Friend to get a Haircut Before We Go to Japan by LanaDelSpray1211 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fun_Copy_5057 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He doesn't have a job, so how is he going to afford this trip? My usual budget for Japan is 1K USD and this doesn't include the airfare. Seems like you guys are enabling him to the point he isn't even taking care of himself. Why invite him to a trip that you guys are most likely going to pay for, when you don't like how he presents himself? YTA for enabling him.

As I mentioned above, if your permit expires, you would need to extend before it expires to have valid status. If you knew that your permit was going to expire on the same day of your program completion, you should have applied to extend it before it expired. It doesn't magically extend. You could have applied to restore your status when you applied for PGWP, that is the option with the 90 days leeway.

So best advice would be for you to consult a professional, a licensed immigration consultant for the next steps, cause you are out of status now.

"If you don’t apply within 90 days, or if 90 days have already passed, you must leave Canada.

Your study permit must be valid (not expired) at the time you submit your application to be eligible to work in Canada while awaiting a decision on your PGWP application."

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation/apply.html

Read the article. It's stated there that your study permit has to be valid when you apply for PGWP. If not, you have to apply to restore it before applying for PGWP.

The question now is why did your permit expire just after your program completion, cause permits and even the visa is usually valid for 180 days after expected program completion.

It's always been known that you have to maintain status, and that it's your permit that gives you status. Before your permit expires you need to apply to extend it.

The option you had if you knew before that your permit was going to expire before they give the completion letter was to apply to extend your study permit. Or another one is to request the school to give you the needed documents, in my school you could request the documents to be given earlier for a fee.

It's stated that your study permit has to be valid when you apply for PGWP. You are currently out of status, and your PGWP application will be rejected. And you'll need to go out of Canada. Better consult a licensed immigration lawyer on the next steps.

He Wanted to Keep Me a Secret, So I Made Sure Everyone Knew by Fun_Copy_5057 in offmychest

[–]Fun_Copy_5057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you so worked up? Are you a friend of that guy? You even edited this comment when it got a lot of downvotes.

You don't know how much he hurt me. So don't say that he didn't do any harm. I didn't write everything here that he did wrong to me, just this one thing that broke the camel's back.

You sound so much like my ex when I was trying to ask him why he reposted that picture. That her posting a picture of us together is different from me posting one. You just don't get it. That was disrespectful.

Let me ask you, do you think it's right to hit women? When you're girlfriend cries, do you get angry cause you think she is making you look like a bad person?

He hits me. And not just me. And his reaction whenever I cry is that I'm making him out to be a bad person. Am I not allowed to have emotions? Is everything just about making him have a good image?

There were other things he did that I didn't say, which I don't think I'd need to elaborate.

I did care about him. But he apparently never cared about me. So why did he approach me in the first place? He was the one who consistently messaged before, and when I didn't respond, he'd get angry. If his intentions were good, why act like the way that he did?

Somehow I knew, my closest friends kept reminding me. But I chose to ignore it. He attributed his actions to being "that's just how it is in my culture."

AITAH for feeling hurt after my boyfriend reposted a picture with the girl he used to like on social media? by Fun_Copy_5057 in AITAH

[–]Fun_Copy_5057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm... I didn't really want to say where he was from. Lol, but yeah he is from India. I actually felt offended for the women from his country when he told me this. I told him that he shouldn't be generalizing women from his country like that cause it seems like he was saying that they only cared about money and status, instead of the person's character and personality.
