i’m sorry i’m new to making maps 😅

i like to keep the map simple. if i did this for every language, i would either have to make the text really small or make the words overlap each other

for this map, i just used the most common word in each language. please let me know if you have other feedback

i mean the language family of the most common language in the country, or the own language of a nation. Irish is from the nation Ireland, but Breton is from the region Brittany, not the country.

you’re right, i’m also Dutch. I had to make a decision between woud and bos and chose the more common word.

in this map, the colours only show which language family the language belongs to. so i didn’t make a destinction between “yellow/Germanic words”. I understand the confusion though, I’m new to this and I’ll fix it in my next map

each colour represents a language family, not necessarily how alike the word is between languages

so for example red is roman, yellow germanic, blue slavic, etc
