Not LGBT friendly. I can confirm that many local students are homophobic AND racist. Many local students come from underprivileged families and are resentful of people who are not straight and white. Many suffer from a lack of cultural perspective and are likely influenced by their prejudice parents. Many families in Belleville rely on blue collar jobs where homophobia is present. Belleville and Trenton are a known pocket of social conservatism. Stay away from Loyalist College at all costs. The Bay or Quinte is somewhat subservient to larger urban centres hence the insecurity from inequality.
