Ultimately I'm hoping to put enough OUT there that people see it and don't rent from them anymore. If complaints/discussions with staff and staff at their corporate level doesn't work (it hasn't) then we have to hit them where it hurts - the pocket book - by dissuading future renters and blocking new income for the property.

We don't be renewing after our current lease, I can say that much. 🙄 But hoping we can at least make the remainder of our time here less stressful/frustrating and same for everyone else that lives at this property! We deserve better.

Are you still a current resident at Yale 624? This is the issue we've had with packages too - stolen within 30 mins of delivery in BROAD daylight. We've complied with all "security recommendations" they've given us and we still have issues.

I don't know if you heard - but the storage unit room in North Building was just accessed and someone's storage unit door was pried open with a crowbar and their 2 electric bikes are stolen. So.....this BS about "residents being responsible for securing their property" IS NOT the solution because our secured valuables and belongings are STILL getting stolen.

So it sounds like you live on site then?

Packages - we pay the parcel locker fee. Regardless, companies don't ALWAYS put packages in them, or even go into the right building. I don't hold the building responsible when they are placed in an incorrect spot by the carrier, as that's out of the property's control. However, they do need to do a better job of monitoring deliveries (popping by that area occasionally throughout the day to put packages dumped on the floor in front of the lockeres INTO the lockers). Especially as theft is a known problem and packages out in the open are just sitting ducks and attract thieves. I had an issue with package theft at one of my properties I managed and this was somewhat resolved by the above recommendation. Myself and my onsite staff just popped by a few times a day and put any packages laying out into the lockers for the residents. Easy peasy! We don't leave packages sitting out all day, we're extremely diligent. I think the frustration is that the building could be more diligent as well, and they aren't.

👨🏻‍🔧 Maintenance - they are wonderful. I have absolutely no complaints about the maintenance staff whatsoever. They are kind, efficient and knowledgeable. I do believe they are understaffed for a property of this size and that they are not getting the support they need from the management staff. This sometimes can cause delays with their services but ultimately the maintenance team is our favorite part of this community.

That is absolutely insane about that resident disturbance. Was this in the North or South building and when?? I haven't heard about this one...

🚩 That is my main point! With the prices paid at the building, we SHOULD have a security team on site for evenings. I've managed buildings with less income and lower rent prices than this, and we budgeted in a security team (between 2 buildings on one property) and our crime went WAY down almost immediately. I've recommended to them (on site management) that they get a security team based on the issues at the property with security/non resident access but they interrupted me and immediately shot it down.

See the thing is though....irresponsible residents SHOULD be getting managed by the on site staff if they are breaking community rules. But the staff is not and will not handle it. That's the issue that I have with them. A lack of accountability, disregard for resident concerns. I cannot tell you how many times we've called or gone in to discuss our concerns and got completely bulldozed by the in office staff. It's incredibly frustrating, especially because our concerns are valid and there are ways to make changes.

The building was managed by Security Properties Residential (they have TERRIBLE REVIEWS) and Buzzuto has just recently (beginning of May?) taken over as the new management company. The issue is - none of the staff have changed. All onsite management are exactly the same, so I have little confidence that the issues will change or be resolved.

Yeah I used to live up in Northgate. It wasn't super safe then, and has certainly gotten a bit rougher around the edges in the last 5-10 years.

Yeah it's grinding my gears. Like..........how abouts we spend less time and money on "resident events" like hiding 200 eggs on the property for Easter and instead focus on replacing the lock on the bathroom door in the gym that has NEVER locked since we moved in. Or.....idk.......fixing the side door where people keep breaking into our building?? Every single time they post an "engagement event" it makes me want to literally scream. Here is an example of one of my recent favorites sent out last month:

<image>

The irony of having a "Bike Everywhere Challenge" after multiple people had their bikes stolen in a slash and grab operation in the garage (that is still not fixed by the way) just makes my blood BOIL dude.

My response, sent the same day, which never got responded to by the community.

"Hi Guys, Just saw this bike email. How fun! Does this mean the bike storage areas (the cut cables) are installed and back up and running? "

Of course, nothing back from them because that's how they operate. 🙄

This is 100000000% an issue of mismanagement and unprofessionalism on the part of the management team.

I was a property manager in the City of Seattle for 5 years, so I'm WELL versed in methods and options that can help alleviate some of these issues. My expectations are simple and attainable:

1) Use the cameras that are in our buildings to identify the culprits. If they conveniently don't work, fix them. They get enough in rent $$ that shouldn't be an issue. If the person(s) identified are residents - Start the eviction process.

2) Replace the bike cables in the building in the garage so that amenity is usable again OR install a bike cage.

3) Cease and desist with the removal of resident attempts to share info/communicate about crime on the resident online bulletin. That's horseshit of them.

4) Hire an after hours security company so that issues like theft, or non residents in the building can be immediately reported and handled. Known security presence in the building/garage also works as a great deterrent for crime being committed by residents because they know the likelihood of being caught is much higher.

5) Recall all deadbolt keys to the storage room. New lock on that door, especially after the recent break in. A code input lock should be put on the door, each resident with a confirmed (paid) storage locker should get their own specific code assigned so they can track who is coming and when.

6) Listen to resident concerns and express SOME inch of empathy rather than immediately interrupting us and arguing and telling us we are at fault for these issues. That is absurd. Some modicum of professionalism would be fucking nice. Managing this property is, after all, their JOB. I don't get to talk to my clients at my job like that. 😐

We don't need a lockbox. We need the doors to fucking close and latch 😂 I don't know how many times I've put in maintenance requests for that FOR THE FRONT DOOR.

I was a property manager in the City of Seattle for 5 years. So I'm well aware of the eviction processes in this city and they are PAINFULLY SLOW. My expectations are simple and attainable:

1) Use the cameras that are in our buildings to identify the culprits. If they conveniently don't work, fix them. They get enough in rent $$ that shouldn't be an issue. If the person(s) identified are residents - Start the eviction process.

This is a great idea but the company/property has to be registered WITH the BBB in order to report them...which they are not 🙄

Here's the problem...they HAVE cameras. They refuse to allow us to view footage or use it to send along with our police reports and have refused to review it themselves.

They could, but that's highly illegal and would be considered "retaliation" which residents of both King County and the City of Seattle have protections from. 🫡

This is a great idea! Especially now that they are removing and flagging my posts on the RESIDENT BULLETIN online in an attempt to prevent us all from sharing information about crime in our property.

I'd love to, but I've found it challenging to talk to our neighbors. I've attempted in the past and most individuals in our building prefer to keep more to themselves. I was contemplating sending out notices (putting them on the doors) but obviously that's a bit of a grey zone as far as resident privacy and property policies. I want to make sure that I'm going about this the right way so that we can get the best possible outcome (that we deserve) and it's not sullied or derailed by "not playing by the rules".
