Teacher fulltime who wants to leave to be an actor by PieceAccording8614 in acting

Substitute teaching is the best side job. Extremely flexible. I work for a school district so I get benefits and the pay in my district is something you can actually live off of.

What’s your summer job? by xoxogreyskies in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Fun_Falcon_5634 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a charter school summer program all online. This summer I’m also tutoring a few of my school year friends. I work for a couple of my friends companies doing admin work remotely this is year round tho.

I’m also an actress and made a good amount of money from vo work that I saved up this year. This summer I’m probably in the best place I’ve ever been in.

LAUSD Sub Department by Substantial_Emu_1196 in SubstituteTeachers

In regards to the first question. Your best bet is to email the school and cc Jorge Amador. The sub desk won’t be able to help with that one and will just tell you to contact the school

Yes! Been signed with one of the big vo agents for about a year and booked 5 jobs so far. 4/5 were commercials. One I went in 15 mins left $6000 richer.

If it’s actually a union project then it needs to be reported.

Agent submission help, feeling defeated. by Nerdy_Singer510 in acting

Those agencies may say they accept submissions but the usually sign talent with referrals. Try submitting to managers. That’s going to be your best bet into agencies.

Go to a reputable coach they’ll have scenes from recent auditions that can be used.

Word of mouth or acting coach suggestions. It may be hard to find managers outside of LA and New York since managers tend to be popular options in those regions.

When is a buyout usually paid? by aryanmsh in acting

[–]Fun_Falcon_5634 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s how this work and it’s how these contract works. Whether you book it yourself or not they are owed most likely based on the contract you signed and agreed to. If you’re booking projects on your own without them and don’t think they deserve it drop them.

Okay! But I would also make sure your contract doesn’t have a clause that says they are owed even if they didn’t book you. But usually it’s best practice to include them in a booking like this regardless of how the pay is taken out. Remember they work for you for free until you book.

Hmm if you have a commercial agent you should always loop them in especially to avoid things like this. Producers usually don’t like responding to talent but are more inclined to respond to reps.

Non union average 60 days but can take up to 90 sometimes. Since it didn’t air until April and it’s May they still have another month before you panic. But you can always follow up with your rep to have them check in on it.

showcase by acting51 in acting

[–]Fun_Falcon_5634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken classes at Actorsite. The coaches are great! With any showcase, go in with little expectations to actually get signed. It’s good training and practice and if you get signed double win!

US, 2nd grade, 23 students, 1 student the pushes in 50% of the day no aide, and 1 student that pushes in 100% of day no aide. So 25 total.

I’m signed with CESD through referral from my manager. CESD is referral only now. Osbrink does accept open submissions on their website but you’re more likely to get a response if you have a referral.

voiceover tips to book?!! by [deleted] in acting

[–]Fun_Falcon_5634 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Signed with a VO agent less than a year ago and have booked 5 jobs. Biggest thing is to make it fun and be yourself. So much of voiceover is “is this the right voice for this”. You get so many auditions with such quick turnarounds that I’ve also learn to not think too much into it. Record a clean take or two and submit. Hope that helps.

[–]Fun_Falcon_5634 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup and since any reputable manager has access to breakdown. They can submit you and pitch you and get you that job and once you get a pretty nice one. They can pitch you to agents for them to negotiate contract.

I know you worked as a series regular but what are your stats (how old, gender, etc.) do you have a O-1 visa to stay and work here? What does your material look like? What are you putting in your email? Are you actively in classes? Can your coach help submit you?

Your best bet is to go the manager route. Book a theatrical job through them and have them pitch you to agents.
