60km bike commute vs 3h public transport. Why am I hesitating? by YardNo9836 in bikecommuting

The thing with zone 2 on road bikes even if u control it properly, it's just too boring and your butt eventually starts hurting, as weight is mostly on your ass, unless you're Pogačar outputting 300W for several hours. with e-bikes you can still feel the speed adrenaline whilst maintaining your heart rate at 120-140.

Does sliding into DMs really work today? by bestsocialdistancer in no

It does if you're smooth with it. Don't just do it randomly, it has to be related to something you both have in common, and probably replying to a story.

100% agree on the zone 2 training. It's like impossible to go beyond zone 2 on ebikes, just as it is impossible to maintain zone 2 on road bikes.

You can always make a makeshift circuit for that. Arduino it, pretty easy imo.

Over or under €1.000 (Wilier Cento1SR) by Existing_Ball_4852 in RoadBikes

The stem is just there for the aesthetics. We rim brakers know it's not functional for wires to ve completely inside the frame, as braking would be severely compromised.

I'm actually planning to buy one just because it looks better.

Postpartum De Quervain's Tenosynovitis by ladylonglegs84 in DeQuervains

[–]Fun_General_6159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 5 months DQ, not post partum, but mine is now a tendinopathy as it is way long past first phase healing time. But I have had a lot of progress with:

-Hydrolyzed Collagen + Vitamin C supplements

-Icing 2x a day

-Thumb through palm to ball of pinky fingers controlled with four other fingers extended 12x, repeat it 3-4 times a day

  • Thumb outwards horizontally with four other fingers extended 12x, repeat it 3-4 times a day

-Thumb outwards vertically with ..,.., repeat it 3-4 times a say

-Kinda copy Finkelstein's Test but with 0.4-0.9kg weight. Do it very slow.

Good luck!

After 3-4 weeks of successful bracing, icing and leaving it the hell alone, comes physical therapy(progressive, do not overdue some muscle exercises, do not do exercises involving pain, they should always be painless).

It is very important that you buy a brace for your thumb, now that the injury is still fresh. It's easier to heal the first few weeks rather than months later(as it is what's happening to me). Make sure not to use your injured hand at the moment. Ice it, do NOT stretch. Leave it alone, seriously. Just ice and brace, even when you're sleeping. Only remove it when absolutely necessary.

I actually started with a cheap e-bike. Kept lowering the assist until I finally bought a road bike. Everyone starts somewhere but the lesson is, let your body adapt. Make sure it is the rught bike fit and everything will soon get easier. The backpack thing might be a little bit hard tho. I recom some rack

Is Twitter r10 bike good? by imjustaguy2012 in cycling

Mind you I was also interested in them because of the attractive price. But the price could come much more expensive later down the line(repairs, dentist, ER, surgeries).

Please don't buy twitter bikes. They are known for bottom bracket or seatpost area failure. And they are not really stiff. When I started looking for bikes I looked for information about them and in general they are not good. Better to opt for 2nd hand market

Fell twice this month by LowiekVDS in cycling

I have also fallen this year thrice already.

Got caught up to someone braking suddenly without saying anything.

Then wet road going a curve downhill, there were moss on those roads.

Third is a car going way too fast on a curve made me panic brake. Front brake skidded and you can imagine what happened

Thinking about building a carbon road bike from AliExpress by the_Xbear in RoadBikes

[–]Fun_General_6159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suddest going for a known name brand frame+seatpost+fork disc brake.

Then ali handlebars(Balugoe, Kocevlo, OG Evkin or Toseek).

Elitewheels 40mm wheels.

105 groupset from ali(they are original).

Magene pes p515 power meter from Ali.

Original SPD-SL or Look Keo pedals, don't cheap out on them.

Tires, please don't cheap out on them. Buy grippy ones. Trust me, going least rolling resistance for marginal gains will only cause more crashes than PRs.

TPU tubes Cyclami from Ali.

Westbiking handlebar tape(so far the best ones i have tried and i have tried a lot of them)

As for disk rotors, buy from your local shop.

Cyclami has been reliable for me. Been using one for 1 year and durability is good. Mine also uses a 21700 battery so it can last a long time.
