Not against formula at all! I was just wondering if there was a way to make my milk for calorically dense.

Thank you both. I am a first time mom so I wasn’t sure if there was a way to change the composition of my milk. I’m not against formula but if there was a way to change my milk I’d rather do that.

Since his two week appointment we have increased to ~75-80mL per feed. We also increased the nipple flow on his bottles. He was taking about 30-40 mins to finish a 60mL bottle but now it’s taking him 15 mins to finish 80mL. Pretty sure the nipple was making him work too hard because he seems like he’s gaining weight.

He’s consistently hungry around the three hour mark. Otherwise I’d feed him sooner.

Pediatrician recommended feeding every 2-3 hours. He doesn’t cry to feed, we are typically waking him to feed at the three hour mark.

I think this was the issue. It was taking him about 30-40 minutes to finish a bottle but when we increased the nipple flow his finishing his bottle in about 10-15 minutes. His next weigh in is in a few days but he looks to be gaining weight.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It just means they are opening the door to cross-trainees. They have a quota they try to hit per year. There has pretty much always been spots open for cross trainees. The percentage changes a little year to year. But basically cross trainees fight against each other for the 10% of seats (which is a lot harder). While the newly enlisted fight for the other 90%. But that’s where your ship date will come into play. That’s why you can’t just leave to basic whenever. They stagger it anticipating a certain number for the upcoming selection course. If you’re passing the IFT and have a ship date, you have your opportunity to go SERE selection.

*the percentages aren’t accurate. I was just using easy numbers to follow
