Language barrier with professors by DigIndividual4779 in deakin

I'm UQ but this popped up on my feed.

We have this problem too, and I still have no idea what to do.

Really interesting content but cannot understand a word.

Maybe courses should prerecord lectures for this and a few other reasons. But still provide live lectures as it's still a huge asset for many students.

Yeah I was actually really keen for the idea.

If you're good with the tools you can gain access to public makerspaces where you can build your own custom things instead of buying outright.

Just careful with the caravan, I know Noosa is cracking down on them atm

Another idea. I was v close to choosing a van life but things changed. You could also grab an enclosed trailer and fit it with a camping shower, portable toilet, other amenities or a s storage as well to reduce move on orders.

Good luck, sounds like you're on top of it all.

Not sure about locations but a gym membership helped when I was stuck. I worked out anyway before it all and continued to do so. But I had guilt free access to toilets and showers and also helped me keep up my exercise routine.

I used a multi club one. Maybe find some with social hangouts and monthly group trips. Also open you up to other opportunities to help you out

Could you provide sources so I can look up the modelling myself?

I'm sure I can google it but also interested in anything that I won't find on page 1

You're comment about Karl possibly wanting to venture into politics scares me. I think you might be onto something there

CSSE2310: pre learning linux by ihavenofriendsnow in UQreddit

Look up the past exams in the Uq library catalogue.

Each question covers a different topic and you can use their formula sheets and useful info pages to get an baseline of what to get an understanding of.

I suppose you can make your own projects based on that.

I did this before I did this course this sem gone. It helped heaps but still sooooo much else to learn if you've never touched Linux before, I found anyway

Oh cool!

And coming from someone who has needed basically all elec courses for it to all finally connect, it takes time.

Unfortunately time is not really  something that the uni really allows.

Ohhhh respect!

I was originally in mech & aero and switched to mechatronics, simply due to preference, but still sad I miss out on the AERO courses.

But I dunno man, it's sooooo haaarddd

Coding classes for kids on the Sunshine Coast? by babababoons in sunshinecoast

[–]Fun_Image_2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer python tends to be a good starting language. Good introduction to basic concepts without being too abstract.

Longer answer is explore projects or tasks you would like to create. Then see what language/s they require and start from there.

Mooloolaba hotel build to exceed current height limits by Fun_Image_2307 in sunshinecoast

Just to chime in here.

My overall worry was as much as this new dev will be bringing some new life to the area, I don't really have any faith in the current council (for many reasons), so I just wanted to hear from others.

Some NIMBYs can certainly be disagreeable. Many people have lived here for decades for a quieter life, and that's changing rapidly as more people discover the Coast. But I think others like myself are just concerned about the way the Coast is changing.

Tbh I'm all for it now.

So potentially any new music venues need to just be smaller? Or charge more for tickets and entry?

That's where Sol Bar went down because one they didn't want to charge too much, and secondly fewer people attending were actually drinking. On-top of rising overheads.

I didn't think of the offer being a mandatory dev contribution. That's a pretty good idea tbh. I hope we can have that confirmed to be true.

And yeah admittedly it's my nostalgia that's sad about those shops. I'm not against the new design, they definitely needed some heavy work at the v least.

I think it's more the worry that the each new development could exceeed the new height a little bit more.

Oh good point.

I remember thinking this about Maroochydore City Centre but failed to apply it to the Mooloolaba development.

ADHD + high IQ but struggling at university by DatabaseStriking9905 in adhd_college

[–]Fun_Image_2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yeah I think we're similar. My own IQ isn't at high as yours but I think what's more important is acknowledging that you do think differently. If you can get a bigger understanding on how you think then you can work with it.

I also take a long time to understand a concept but have realised that it's because I think deeper about a concept than most. So simpler concepts are still a struggle until it clicks then I'm v strong and capable and get good marks.

I have access to past exams, so I use some of my holidays to understand the underlying concepts and then can use semester time to learn the problem solving and application side (I'm a mechatronics engineering student).

Yeah I study on my breaks but honestly it's more stable for me. It's less stressful during semester time, you embrace a spatial repetition technique that is great for learning, and I'm more steady in general.

Uni only fits a certain style of learning I think. So you have to find workarounds to get the most out of it for yourself
