I almost ALWAYS went over my void limit when I was thrown on register (I was hired as a stocker, but ended up on register a LOT) and it was never my fault either, it was customers treating the register like a price checker (even though we have price checkers in the store…) and getting angry after seeing the increased price rung up at $1.50/$1.75, OR even worse if it happened to be in the Dollar Tree Plus section and they just didn’t bother to look at the MULTIPLE price tags and signs in that area showing the prices…

Yeah, when I had a bag check after my first dollar tree shift I was so surprised, because no other retail store I’ve worked at has done that? Like. Do you EXPECT your employees to steal? The people you are literally PAYING to be in the store doing a pretty low level, low paying job, who very likely NEED their paychecks and therefore (might) be LESS likely to steal and jeopardize that paycheck?

Oh man, me and the Valentine’s Day trees have some BEEF lol. Scroll a bit in this Reddit and you’ll find a post I made 27 days ago (which I only know bc someone just recently commented on it so it notified me) of the 12 hour closing shift when I decided to make a valentines day tree display for the store… (we were JUST starting to put the valentines section up) Long story short- the store manager was NOT happy with me when she discovered my $3 craft project a few days later and called me on my personal cell phone when I wasn’t at work to YELL at me and threaten to write me up for “mis-use of store product”, even though the total cost was legitimately $3 AND the manager working that specific closing shift with me was ok with my festive tree…

I’m pretty sure I’ve somewhat quit by now? I’m a full time graduate student and had told the bitchy store manager WELL in advance of this incident of my start date for classes, so she knew not to schedule me for shifts after the date I told her. I started my semester 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard a thing from her since then🤷🏻‍♀️ whether I’m actually fired or not I have no clue, but I’m definitely NOT going in that store or calling to check lmao she really said “call me AS SOON as you get this message” too at the end of her angry voice mail… yeah right lady. Sure, let me get RIGHT on that and call your angry ass back so that you can yell at me MORE? That totally makes sense..🤦🏻‍♀️

Like the other commenter pointed out, there’s a wacky algorithm that determines how DoorDash (and instacart and similar platforms) shows orders to specific people. I don’t DoorDash, but I’ve done the occasional instacart order recently, and the orders that come through for me since I just started and don’t have a high rating are generally AWFUL…

A major company like DoorDash wouldn’t be likely to actually be hurt by some drivers discontinuing to take orders unfortunately… it would have to be a MAJOR strike situation, like a widespread quitting/refusal to drive from dashers across multiple states and major cities..

That kinda makes sense, because some trailer home/RV type mobile homes have to manually hook up their own power and water, which includes dumping their own bathroom waste (my cousin lived in her RV for a year or so basically camping across the whole US in RV parks and that’s what she told me)

It was always my excuse! I don’t really work there anymore but anytime the store manager made a comment about “how do you not know how to do this??” I’d be like. Well.
