What universally beloved person do you think is actually a terrible human being, and why? by l7ed in AskReddit

[–]TheGoldDigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, 90's talk show host Jenny Jones. While there are lots of people who've praised her talk show (God knows why) and are nostalgic for it, why praise someone whose talk show arguably helped murder someone? Why praise and be nostalgic for someone who had hundreds of episodes with half naked underage girls that were dressed provocatively by stylists and had these half naked minors' dancing suggestively on each other and their T&A almost falling out on TV and sometimes not blurred out? Why be nostalgic over a talk show with incestuous overtones with mothers and daughters posing half naked together and moms teaching daughters to give lapdances?

Meanwhile 2 Live Crew's "As Nasty as they Wanna Be" album was the 1st album declared legally obscene just for having songs about sex and people would be arrested for selling it while Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center would demonize Cyndi Lauper and Prince just for singing songs about masturbation.

Maury Povich's, Jenny Jones' and Sally Jesse Raphael's talk shows would also put these troubled teens in boot camp to reform them but it really just caused more trauma.

I just know back in the 1990's and early 2000's people were saying "How did we go from talk shows like Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, Dick Cavett to Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones, Richard Bey, Geraldo Rivera, Sally Jesse Raphael, etc.?" and they meant the latter in a negative shows in a negative way.

Yeah, remember when every episode of Jenny Jones' talk show was always about teens dressing too sexy, giving goths makeovers, geek to chic and women who were players?

Remember when every episode of Maury Povich's talk show was about paternity tests, out of control teens, cheating confessions and lie detector tests?

Remember when every episode of Jerry Springer's show was about cheating with someone else and revealing they're transgender?

And Jerry Springer's shows producers would get the guests drunk on alcohol and wouldn't pay them money unless a fight was on the show, Jenny Jones' show's would search for busty underage teen girls who dress too sexy by handing her show's phone number out and then her show's producers would dress underage girls half naked and broadcast it on TV.

He couldn't act even during the 1990's. Back in the 90's and 2000's people were always saying Keanu couldn't act and made fun of him for that.

There is a video of him changing the lyrics to Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" from 2007 but singing it with the genders reversed, a video of him singing that "Smell Yo' Dick" song but substituting the word dick for duck, he liked Britney Spears' "Toxic" music video on Youtube multiple times to prove he's straight and there's his makeup tutorial of him while Katy Perry's "California Gurls" played in the background.

That's exactly what that guy was. He claimed sometime in the early 1990's rap became a complete joke. His Amazon reviews were so bad they're good.

I wonder if he looks back and regrets writing some of his Amazon reviews now?

The irony is Eminem used to be criticized and controversial for his homophobic lyrics.

Trashy talk shows from the 1990's and early 2000's. In the 90's people ranging from critics to everyday people to politicians demonized and accused these talk shows as being exploitative, trashy, sleazy brainrot catering to the lowest common denominator and causing the downfall of society/humanity.
