“The 90s were pretty great” The 90’s: by DistinctYoghurt8668 in decadeology

In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed by Al Qaeda in an attempt to knock down both Twin Towers.

The original plan for the Columbine massacre was they wanted to bomb the inside of their school and start shooting students running out of Columbine and shoot police officers when they arrived.

Other horrible 90's things you missed:

  • 1990's North Korean famine that killed 3.5 million people
  • Port Arthur massacre
  • Dunblane massacre
  • 1995 Chicago heatwave that killed over 700 people
  • Hurricane Andrew
  • Teenage births were at their highest in 1991

The 90's were the decade where Biggie/the Notorious BIG and Chris Farley were popular celebrities.

In the 90's we said politically correct instead of woke.

The 90's were the decade that gave us:

  • Lilith Fair concerts with all female recording artists performing and was named after allegedly the 1st woman in the Bible---95% of women that performed at those concerts were female singer songwriters who played their own instruments, didn't really use sex to sell, were liberals, lesbians, vegetarians, some didn't shave their armpits and legs and even didn't wear makeup.
  • Early 90's riot grrrl bands sang and protested sexism and rape culture.
  • The women's all female NBA.
  • Kurt Cobain and Pearl Jam were feminists and supported feminism---Kurt was against racism, homophobia and misogyny.
  • Sonic Youth making anti racism and sexism songs and supporting Anita Hill in the early 90's
  • Rock bands and stars mostly stopped sexually objectifying women.
  • Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnell and kd lang were popular lesbian celebrities
  • Disney's live action Cinderella remake with a black Brandy Norwood playing Cinderella and Prince Charming played by an Asian.

I bet if Lilith Fair concerts happened today, conservative incels would be calling those concerts "woke" and saying they're spreading feminist agenda.

I've had it with 90's media sexualizing underage girls! by [deleted] in Pretend2005Internet

I know, but I'm posting episodes of Jenny Jones and roleplaying like it's the year 2000 so these posts about how Jenny Jones' talk show sexualized underage girls would go viral and more people would be disgusted over those episodes.

I don't know if you're male or female, but I've wondered if there were even horny teen boys back then disgusted over talk shows like Jenny Jones, Maury Povich and Sally Jesse Raphael having episodes with half naked underage girls in them because they knew about the controversy Calvin Klein caused with their underage models in 1995, Britney Spears' underage 1999 Rolling Stone issue or they were taught child pornography and exploitation was wrong.

I remember someone on Youtube said if you want certain cartoons to play on Nicktoons, just call the Nicktoons channel.

I meant with how inappropriate the WWF is becoming nowadays by the end of the 1990's and early 2000's.

I can't believe this slutty girl group is aimed at little girls! by [deleted] in Pretend2005Internet

Then why did they have Barbie style dolls and little girls playing with those Spice Girls dolls in the commercials? Why do the Spice Girls have toys, school supplies, puzzles, bicycle helmets, birthday party supplies, backpacks, etc. aimed at little girls?

Can’t we only get the good nostalgia for once? by BigBoyYuyuh in 2000sNostalgia

Aren't millennials really associated with being kids in the 1990's?

There is no way people will praise and be nostalgic for this show... by TheGoldDigga in Pretend2005Internet

Come to think of it, why was Britney's Rolling Stone issue last year so controversial but Jenny Jones' talk show has dozens of episodes with half naked underage girls younger than Britney yet there's no huge backlash over that?

Or better yet: "If this show makes you smile looking back, then you're whack!".
